Reuters reports here at the Washington Post website: Japan’s Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. said on Wednesday it would launch two Blu-ray DVD recorders in Japan on November 15, heating up a format battle for next generation DVD technologies. The Panasonic brand maker, which promotes the Blu-ray format in competition with the HD DVD standard led by Toshiba Corp., said it expected the two types of recorders to retail at about 240,000 yen ($2,045) and 300,000 yen ($2,556).
