CNN News reports here: Could the company that helped catapult the legal music download market with iPods and iTunes now kick-start the online movie market? Rumors of Apple Computer Inc.’s plans to launch a movie download service gained momentum Tuesday after the company sent invitations to the media, saying "It’s Showtime," next week.

Panasonic notebook batteries recalled

AP reports here at Yahoo News: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. said Tuesday it has begun recalling 6,000 lithium-ion batteries used in Panasonic-brand notebook computers in Japan on concerns they might overheat. The recall of the batteries for Let’s Note CF-W4G notebook PCs only affects Japan, said company spokesman Akira Kadota.

‘Adware’ attack on privacy tool

BBC News reports here: Software that claimed to provide increased privacy whilst surfing the web has been criticised by computer experts and the blogging community. The application Browzar has been branded "adware" by many because it directs web searches to online adverts.

November launch date for HD-DVD
