5 out of 5 stars I love Vista!   November 25, 2007
2 out of 6 found this review helpful

I started using a beta of Vista over a year ago and and I bought a new laptop with Vista Premium preinstalled in June. I love Vista! I have had no problems with it what-so-ever. I have gotten the Blue Scree Of Death exactly three times in over one year and each time iTunes was the cause.

I find that Vista is considerably faster than XP even though many people seem to think Vista is slower. If you use it the way it comes when it is preinstalled then it is slower. But since I am a geek I know how to make it run very fast. My laptop has a dual-core AMD processor, 1 gig of ram and 256 megs of shared video ram. I have never had it use the swap file yet, 1 gig of ram is more than enough. Of course, when I bought it the thing had 65 programs running in memory but when I got done customizing it then it only has 25 programs running in memory. I also uninstalled Norton since I don't like anti-virus software. I turned off UAC, indexing, the defrager (I use a different one once a week) and a few other things that slow it down. It runs rings around XP. I do keep Aero turned on, since I love the effects.

I can tell by reading the other reviews of this product that there are a lot of reviewers here who use Linux and Mac and have never used Vista in their entire life and never will. I feel sorry for those pathetic individuals that get their jollies bad mouthing products just because they use something else. Mircosoft won the operating system wars 15 years ago. Mac and Linux fans need to get over it and move on.

1 out of 5 stars ANOTHER horrible Microsoft Product   November 17, 2007

The list of problems with Vista is too great to list here, mostly because my blood pressure will rise to the point that my head explodes.

know this: most games compatable with XP will NOT run on vista properly.

bottom line, STAY WITH VISTA AS LONG AS YOU CAN!!! or buy an apple...

1 out of 5 stars STAY FAR, FAR, FAAAAAAR AWAY   November 13, 2007

Please stay away from spending money on this program. It makes you feel like you are a thief... only supports microsoft programs, downloading files is a real pain, if not impossible, it crashes frequently, its heavy on the RAM. Its the worst thing that has happend to computers.

The grafics are nice, though, but beware that all you'll get to do is watch the pretty icons, everything else, EVERYTHING is a problem.

I have to give it one star, but actually I rate it -5 stars.

1 out of 5 stars Do not upgrade unless absolutely necessary   November 6, 2007

I purchased a new computer back in January and decided recently to upgrade to Vista. This has been a huge mistake! I've had numerous compatibility problems with various drivers and so forth. I've also been advised to back up my system while I'm trying to resolve the issues, so I had to buy an external hard drive. Unless you absolutely need Vista, do not upgrade!

1 out of 5 stars hard to see any benefits   November 4, 2007

Incredibly disappointed. I was happy with XP, now that I'm on Vista I've had to get accustomed all over again with operating a computer. This includes learning how to uninstall programs, navigate folders, changing options, and the like, all over again. I'm also using a much upgraded, more recent computer and the speed of powering up, shutting down, opening programs is the same as it was under my older, cheaper computer using XP. In short, I feel like I've spent a lot of money to get exactly what I had before using an older computer and XP, not withstanding the nuisance of familiarising myself with something new all over again. If I could choose again I'd have just stuck with windows XP.
