5 out of 5 stars Wii Classic controller   June 13, 2008
This controller works great, especially with Mario Cart. My kids (ages 7 & 10) had trouble using the steering wheels that came with the game. They have been using the classic controller since and have improved on their game skills.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Virtual Console and other games   June 2, 2008
This controller is an excellent wii accessory. It is styled similar to the SNES controller, but with two new analog sticks in the middle. I use it for Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and the Virtual Console games from the Wii Store. I couldn't be happier with it.

1 out of 5 stars This thing is worthless garbage.   May 27, 2008

I bought this so-called "classic" controller because I wanted another controller for Super Smash Brothers Brawl. I hate the stupid poorly designed Gamecube controllers, with the L and R buttons that have to be pressed down two inches to have an effect. So I go to the local big box store and pick up a so-called "classic" controller. I open it, and the thing does not plug into the console. It plugs into the Wiimote! So I've paid $20 for no extra controller. And I can't take it back because it's been opened. And the packaging says nothing about plugging it into the Wiimote. The idea that there should three or four separate control schemes for a single console is ridiculous. There was a time when one whole controller came in a box, and all the peritent details about said controller came on the outside of the box.

The fact is that the only reason to get this is to play VC games. No virtual console, dont get this stupid thing. Getting the stupid GameCube controller will at least give you another whole controller.

4 out of 5 stars Near perfect recreation of the SNES pad.   May 26, 2008
I do not _OWN_ a Wii yet, but I have spent plenty of hours at my cousin's house playing on his, using this controller. I am holding out on Wii until they add Seiken Denestsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) to the Virtual Console, I won't hold my breath. Anyway my experience with this pad playing the older games is pretty positive, the d-pad is very precise, alowing perfect maneuverability in most shooters like Gradius 3, and Zelda: Link to the Past. The sticks also have octagonal ridges which may seem irritating at first, but serve the purpose of keeping the directions seperate and keeping you from slipping into diagonal when you want to go straight. The Y X B A buttons are raised and have more feeling when you push them, unlike the original SNES buttons which felt thin. Start and Select are rather small, but aren't really that hard to hit and they are a fair distance from the stick so you aren't hitting your thumbs on the analogues trying to hit start (common problem with the PS1/2 pads). The analogue's don't have "click in" sticks like the Playstation gamepads, but I guess that isn't a needed function. The one thing that irks me about the Classic Pad is that the cord comes out of the bottom instead of the top, it feels very awkward.

If it were possible to make a Wii to USB adapter to use the Classic Pad as an input for PC games (and most importantly, emulators) like SuperJoy did for the PS2 pads, that would be really really awesome... Playing older games with the Classic pad feels soooo good, but the Virtual Console lacks many of the games I love, and they will probably never get them due to liscencing issues and cost of translating the text.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT   May 17, 2008
I love this new wii controller! very easy to handle and easy to navigate around the menu using the buttons. I use it all the time for the classic games that i download. The only downfall that I see is that the cord on the bottom sometimes gets in the way; should have made it on the top or should have made it wireless, none the less, this is an awesome product
