Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars I LIKE THE IMATION DVD'S BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THAT IS NOT WHAT I RECEIVED   July 22, 2008
I HAD TROUBLE WITH THIS SELLER. THEY DIDN'T SHIP OUT THE PRODUCT FOR OVER 2 WEEKS AND WHEN I CONTACTED THEM THEY SAID THAT THEY DID. WHEN THE PRODUCT CAME IT HAD BEEN SHIPPED THE DAY I CONTACTED THEM. BUT THE WORST PART WAS THAT THEY SENT ME THE WRONG SPINDLE OF DVD'S. SO I NEVER RECEIVED THE IMATION'S LIKE I ORDERED.

4 out of 5 stars No Problems With Recording Or Playback   July 17, 2008

"Imation" DVD-R"

Now, that I've stepped into the 21st Century, and learned how to work my DVD recorder, I have been having a field day, transferring all my old taped from TV, VHS films to disc. I was upgrading them by buying the DVDs for the past few years. These transfers may not be as pristene as the big studio transfers, but these discs do the job well. I started out using a name brand like Maxell, but when I saw these on sale at Walmart(even a few dollars less then here), the price difference between these and the name brand was big enough to make me try these. They are sold in various size spindles, 10, 25 50, 100, but the best deals are the larger spindles.

I have transferred many, many films using these Imation discs already, and have not had one problem with these discs. They format in seconds, recorded without any problems and playback looked pretty good to me. No different then the more expensive brands. You have to set the recording mode(through the DVD recorder) to the length you want. The longer the length, the less of a quality playback you will get. 60 minutes will give you HQ, the best quality(if you are taping say a TV program or home movies), SP is 120 minutes, which still looks pretty good, LP is 3 hours, you will start to notice a difference here in both picture and sound, and EP is 4 hours, which is the lowest quality. All modes actually go a few minutes longer. After viewing them you can decide for yourself, which is the longest you want to go, according to how particular you are. I find that if I am recording a film that is over 3 hours, I split the film into 2 discs and use the shortest mode possible for those 2. Also if you don't use all the time alloted for the mode you chose, you can still record with the amount of time you have left in ANY mode, you can change it if you want. Your edit screen on your recorder should let you know that info. But DVD-R cannot be rerecorded over the same space. DVD RW can.Oh and- be sure to finalize through your recorder when you are finished with each disc, as they probably won't play on other DVD players if not.

I think for my favorites, films I will watch over and over, those that I want to admire the pristene cinematography, and films that were not the greatest recording in the first place, I will still buy the studio release DVD, but for the most part, and for my purposes, these Imation discs, do the job, cost less, and I'm getting a heck of alot more space on my shelves.

Thanks and enjoy...Laurie

5 out of 5 stars Most widely readable discs   March 21, 2008

After experimenting with many brands, and having produced thousands of professionally filmed and edited discs, we've found these Imation discs to be the most consistant in playability. The greatest headache of producing custom DVD's is the fact that no player is exactly like the next one. Each machine is individual in it's laser and it's capabilities. A particular disc may play in one machine but will not play in an identical machine. That being said, since we've been using these Imation discs we've had much fewer problems in playability.

2 out of 5 stars compatibility issues   October 11, 2007

I bought 100 blank DVDs, only to get home and find that my desktop won;t recognise them. Thankfully, my laptop can. It's still a pain in the neck, for now I have to edit my videos on the big screen, export to an external hard drive, disconnect that from the desktop, hook it up to the laptop - and finally start burning. I've been burning DVDs for three years, and this is the first time I come across a blank (and I hardly ever ended up with the same brand or type twice) that my computer couldn't read.
