 Doesn't like envelopes August 23, 2008
I purchased two of these printers one new and one refurbished. Both do an excellent job of printing on plain paper. My only complaint is that the only way to print envelopes is one at a time using the manual feed slot at the front of the unit. It is difficult to get the manual feed mechanism to grab the envelope and when it does it usually doesn't feed straight so that the printing on the envelope is skewed and if you try to print a return address it usually only prints a partial because of the feed problem. Not recommended if you plan to print envelopes for mass mailings. I have given up trying to print envelopes on this printer. I've wasted a lot of envelopes. If the manual feed worked properly I would have rated this printer 4 star.

this product is great and works very well. printing is sherp and clear, since it is remanufactured, it means very little. it works just like it is new.

My Samsung ML 1210 laser printer finally died after 6-7 years of home use (what a great printer it was), so I needed a good replacement. My research steered me to this Brother HL-2040 because of the good reviews and the very reasonable cost of this refurbished unit. Though I was skeptical about a refurb., my concerns were somewhat abated by the other Amazon reviews. I have been using it (or really my kids have been using it) quite a bit over the week we have had it. No concerns at all. In fact, it has performed very well with all tasks to date. I think I might even buy another for my office! As indicated by other reviews, you'll need your own USB connecting wire - but you probably have an extra one anyway - I used the old Samsung ML-1210's. Don't feel the fear of this refurb. printer - go ahead and pull the trigger and buy one. [...]

Great printer. Refurb. in description, but not in appearance. Good print quality and excellent speed. Don't think there's a better printer near this price range.
