Takes the 880 to the next level October 6, 2008 I had owned two Harmony 880's for 3 years and they were awesome. The only complaint I had was that the charger was not very reliable. After three years one of my units finally died so when I went to replace it I decided to try the Harmony ONE. It is brilliant. It deals with all of the (albeit minor) flaws of the 880 and makes this the best truly universal remote on the market. And it is hundreds cheaper than the high end ones home theatre stores try to sell you. I loved it so much I replaced my second 880 with another one as well.
Lord of the rings oops Remotes/ Mother of all remotes October 6, 2008 Like said in LOTR one ring to rule them all this "ONE" to rule them all(electronic components with remotes). Got my one a month ago.Its one of the best gadgets ive ever owned. Initially I was hesitant whether I'd be able to set up the remote without any help but it was quite easy it took about 40 miutes to set up the same. Luckily my all equipments of Home theatre are latest ( SANYO PROJECTOR Z-5 WITH 120" SCREEN: AMPLIFIER/ RECIEVER YAMAHA RXV 1800 WITH LATEST HD SOUND FORMATS : PANASONIC BD 30 BLURAY PLAYER : PIONEER DV 696A DVD PLAYER which I have kept as stand by in case some dvds of different region do not work in the BD player. The BD PLAYER PROJECTOR & DVD PLAYER are routed thru the Reciever via HDMI cable. I have fixed a scratchguard(which is used on PDA'S)on the touch screen to avoid being dirty & it works perfectly fine. I have also kept the remote in a soft transparent plastic cover with thick bidding on the sides in case it falls its at least a bit safe. The best things about this remote are the backlite/ touch screen / hard buttons which are very responsive unlike other remotes even logitech's which have soft buttons & have to be pressed hard. The only problem is that after any changes are made one has to upgrade the remote for which you have to have a "proper" net connection. In my home i have a net connection run by a private co.It seems the network is weak because of that the remote dosent get upgraded immediately. In my office the same happens in one shot since the connecton is Govt. owned. Lastly I confess that in case I lose/damage this remote( which is a remote possibility) I would buy a another ONE without hesitation.
Harmony One October 4, 2008 Great! One of the few items out there where the tech reviews and the user reviews are 9 to 10 out of 10. It does what it is advertised to do. I very rarely recommend things to my friends but have turned a lot of friends onto to this.
Great Remote October 3, 2008 This is a great remote. Controls everything I need it to and was much easier to set up than I thought. Just a few tweaks to the defaults and I was very happy.
If it seems like a lot of money.... October 3, 2008 If it seems like a lot of money, you're right, it is. But if you have 3-4 remotes sitting around and you are constantly trying to find the right one to change your audio source, then the video, and then make more adjustments to the tv, etc.--if that is a hassle for you, then get this remote.
I had used a universal remote before and wasn't that impressed, so I wondered how anyone could want $200 for a remote!!! Just for reference, my components are: Samsung LN46A650 LCD, Sony HT-C100 AV Receiver/Soundbar, Sony BDP-S350, DirecTV R21, Xbox360.
In steps the Harmony One. Easy-to-use software set up lets you set your "Activities"--i.e. "Watch TV", "Play Blu-Ray", "Play Xbox 360"--all of which are fully customizable. Sync the remote, and then tap an "Activity" on the LCD screen and the TV, AV receiver, and all the relevant equipment powers up and switches to the correct settings--with one click! It's just as easy to change to watching a blu-ray or playing the 360. When you're done, one power button turns everything off. And all of this is customizable...you can change the behavior associated with a device or the buttons that display on the LCD for an activity. I even set it to replace the remote for my Macbook Pro, so that I can use it to control Front Row on my laptop or on my HDTV screen.
The remote is comfortable to hold and well-designed. The docking station is great---no AA's!
I never would have thought that I would love the remote more than all the components I bought, but I do! If you have the cash, this remote is worth it!
