The ultra-compact remanufactured Panasonic SV-AV25 D-snap digital video camera does it all. In addition to capturing high-quality MPEG4 video and digital still photos to a Secure Digital (SD) memory card (an 8 MB card is included), you can also use the SV-AV25 as a digital audio player and voice recorder. The camera sports such additional features as a 2-megapixel digital still resolution, a 2-inch flip-out LCD for reviewing your videos and photos, and a 2.5x digital zoom. The SV-AV25 is great for recording video on the go. It records MPEG4 video at 30 frames per second, giving you smooth, natural-looking action footage without a choppy "frame-by-frame" effect. Thanks the small size of MPEG4 files--with resolutions of either 320 x 240 or 176 x 144--you can easily post video to your Web site or send files to friends and family via e-mail. You can also use the device to take print-quality 4-by-6-inch digital snapshots on the fly. In addition to capturing motion and still footage, the SV-AV25 can be used as a digital audio player--just slip in an SD card loaded with tunes and listen via the included earphones. The device plays both MP3 and AAC audio files, and by employing the built-in microphone (monaural), you can easily record voice memos, lectures, interviews, and song ideas.
Another bonus stems from the SV-AV25's two-way shooting style. The conveniently position record buttons make it easy to take videos or snapshots either vertically or horizontally. Plus, the LCD screen adjusts to your shooting style, so the picture on the display is always right-side up.
Finally, the camera includes a software bundle with SD MovieStage v. 2.5 and SD Jukebox v. 4.0 applications. SD MovieStage displays MPEG4 motion images and JPEG still images in thumbnail form and plays them back on a PC. The software also lets you cut and edit motion images and send e-mail with motion images attached. SD Jukebox, meanwhile, transfers music from your SD memory card to your PC, in addition to converting music data to different music file formats.
