With a complete set of high performance features and expandable functionality, the Uniden TRU9485-2 offers a full set of convenient options for busy homes. Call Waiting Caller ID includes a 100-station memory (with subscription to local service) that allows names and numbers to be transferred between handsets or moved into the permanent 100-station speed dial. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three numbers at the touch of a button, activate three-way calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission.

This set includes two handsets; the system is expandable to a total of ten. You can transfer incoming calls between each handset, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). A page button lets you quickly locate the handset if it's strayed under the couch cushions.

A digital answering system is built into the base; call screening and recording are available from the handset as well. The base is wall mountable or sits sturdily on a countertop, giving you plenty of display options, and a total of 20 different ring tones (10 tones, 10 melodies) give you a variety of choices. Uniden provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

What's in the Box:
Two cordless handsets, base, handset charger, two belt clips, two batteries, two AC adapters, telephone line cord, user's manual, warranty card

1 out of 5 stars Horrible product, didn't last a year   November 17, 2008
These were great at first, but if you plan to use the functions, (ie. phonebook, caller id, anything with the arrows) don't plan on using long. On all three of our handsets, the arrows just stopped working. I called Uniden and waited on hold for 31 mins. To which they say there is nothing they can do, we have to replace the units ourselves. Their warranty is only good for 12 months. So if you are 12 months and 1 day over, you are basically out of luck. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars A nice little phone   November 2, 2008
These are nice little phones. The answering machine works easily and has intuitive controls. The base station speaker phone also works well. Also do not disturb mode, a nice feature when you want some down time.

4 out of 5 stars Good phone, but got "Out of Range" error after 1.5 months   October 10, 2008
I've had this phone for 1.5 months, and have been very satisfied. It is easy to set up, easy to use, good sound quality, large, easy to read font, ..., everything I want in a phone. Don't really have any complaints until now when one of my handsets displays "Out of Range" message all the time, even though I'm sitting right next to the main unit! I would have given it 5 stars if it did not have this problem.

I am writing this review mostly to inform you how to get rid of the "Out of Range" error, since some other reviewers had similar problem. I was able to get rid of the error by simutaneously pressing the Phone Off button (red) and the # button to deregister the phone, then put the phone on the base to re-register.

I tried to de-register before from Menu - Deregister HS. This did not work!

With this problem, I am just a little worried about the quality of this phone. Hopefully this is the last problem I'll have with this phone :-)

5 out of 5 stars I love this phone!!!!!!   September 28, 2008
First, the phone came on time and once I got it charged I was very happy with it. I have had other phones that cost more but have less features. This phone is perfect! The speaker phone on both the handset and the base is great, crisp, and clear. The intercom feature is great, My fiance' and I communicate from bedroom to kitchen through the inercom so that I can bring what ever he needs from the kitchen without yelling "what do you need from the kitchen". The Do not disturb feature works great; it just makes the phone/voicemail 100% silent so that we can sleep without interruption (we work 3rd shift so we need our sleep during the day). The ringers are lovely, I like the fact that we can pick specific ringers for certain people. Oh yeah, and the best thing about this phone in comparison to our old Vtech phone is that with this phone if we receive a voice mail we don't have to hear the voice mail indicator beep until we get the message. The old Vtech phone we had used to get a voice mail and it would beep every 5 seconds until you listened to the voice mail. This phone does not make any noise unless I let it. Most of the time we keep the phone on Do not disturb due to telemarketers. I really love this phone and I didn't spend much money on it because it is a refurb!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Great phone system, poor design of ans machine screening   September 27, 2008
Many people have identified the good features of this phone. I get great sound quality and range and no interference with my home wireless network. I also like the speed dial allowing 32 digits per entry. Unlike most other brands with 15-20 digits, and some Uniden models, this lets you enter a full 1-800 number, a couple of pauses, and then a long PIN for a calling card.

What aggravates me (and the reason for deducting a star) is the way call screening works. The idea is to let you listen to your callers leaving messages (or to your friends yelling at you to pick up because they know you screen calls) and deciding if you want to pick up the phone.

The problem with this phone is that it also plays the outgoing message every time. I don't need to hear my own message. Even worse, you get to hear it play all the way through, even if the caller has recognized a machine and immediately hung up. This makes the call screening feature worthless as far as I'm concerned. I'll keep using this phone, but with an old AT&T answering machine attached to it, one that screens calls properly.
