This is just a small forwarning for anyone thinking of buying this. Take note that the unit only has one audio input. Now this may be fine if you happen to actually own a TV with a main audio out option (I for one own 3 televisions, one of which is only a month old, none of which have this). Basically what this means is that if you have several items hooked to your TV (PS2, Xbox, Xbox360, VCR, Satelite or Cable box etc etc) you will need to hook and unhook each item as needed to have them in surround sound.

This is a disapointment as I was trying to upgrade from my current Kenwood system which has 5 audio/video + 1 audio only input/outputs. The reason for the upgrade is my new HDTV, which brings me to my other disapointment for this system.

Although it does have component output(ie red, blue, green), it only outputs at 480i/480p. If you have a HDTV capable of 720p/1080i this will likely not be suffient for you.

You'll have to take the other reviewers words on sound quality etc, I never got as far as to actually hook it up after looking at the back of the system, reading the manual etc. Just felt the need to write this as I only purchased it based on it's good user reviews :)

5 out of 5 stars BEST SYSTEM FOR THE MONEY I EVER HAD.   October 4, 2005

READ A FEW REVIEWS THE OTHER DAY ON THIS UNIT. SO I WENT OUT TODAY AND PICKED ONE UP AT WALL MART FOR $249.00. Comes with 2 speaker stands. Stands are to be used for the front but i fitted them to the back and wall mounted the fronts. When i powered it up i was blown away by the sound quality and clarity. I never heard my music sound so good and never heard all those extra instruments in the background. What a super deal this was. It does everything it is designed to do. Looks great. No cons. And when i put a dvd movie in==WOW i thought i was in the theatre. I recommend this highly. Plenty of power and base. Plenty of everything. It does what its designed to do blow you away. Get one you wont be sorry.

Since my wife has never liked the original surround sound, we owned---"too much like trying to fly a space shuttle"---I have been looking for an alternative to in home movie viewing. Boy, did this thing fill the bill, Delivery was incredible, three days. Iinstallation was a snap. All that`s needed is the ability to walk and chew gum at the same time and READ directions. The sound is great---the picture superb and "She Who Must Be Obeyed" is pleased. The easthetics are smart and fit into the room as well. Thanks for saving me a bunch of money and affording us future years of enjoyment.

5 out of 5 stars Great system on a budget   August 25, 2005

The below poster obviously never read the manual or is just naturally ignorant. All you needed to do was...hook audio plugs from the back of the receiver to your television. Then hook your PS2 into the television. Now set the unit on the aux. function and set surround sound mode to party(even sound on all speakers). Ta da surround sound with PS2 and xbox or whatever else. Anyway, I have found this to be a great system. I did alot of research before buying this unit. For me, I didn't want to spend much over $200 for a home audio system without a DVD player or $300 for one with a DVD player. Since I didn't have a DVD player (minus my xbox) I decided on this unit. The picture and sound quality for DVDs is great. It really gets you into the movie. As with any television or home audio system...take the time to read the manual. The stands are weighted nicely and won't fall over unless forced. Also the radio feature is something I was highly interested in, for listening to college games when they're not on TV. Another nice feature is the universal remote included. Basically eliminating the need for having 3 different remotes just to watch a movie. One remote controls the TV, dvd, and surround sound...not a decision making factor, but still nice to have. I can't say I've found a downside to the system as of yet. For the price range I think this system is top of the line. Good luck!

4 out of 5 stars Great product for the price   July 17, 2005

For the price of this unit you can't beat it, only downfall is no optical or coaxial digital input and only one aux input... the sound is great, really looks good too....Several options for sound and picture quality, universal remote, you CAN change a disk while one is playing..very good quality speakers, remember if you pick a speaker up and it has no weight to it, most likely it is not going to give you the best sound quality. All in all panasonic did a good job. Keep in mind, there are better systems out there, but for the money, this is well worth it.
