Mediabridge cables are an excellent deal at this price. I've seen these cables at hi-fi shops at far higher prices.

First, don't believe those that claim all HDMI cables are the same. They are definitely not all the same and anybody that would say that does not have even the most basic knowledge about HDMI. There are absolutely significant differences to be found in the various HDMI cables and devices on the market. While I would never suggest someone go out and overpay for a Monster brand cable, you should absolutely make sure you don't buy a cable that is going to degrade the picture on your new blu-ray equipment in any way. If you do buy one of those cheap cables, they most likely will work fine, but you will most likely never know you that you are not getting the best picture possible from your new 1080p set and blu-ray DVD player. Big differences would however be very apparent should you see a 2nd generation cable next to a 3rd generation cable connected to your new TV. It is even more critical to not buy 2nd generation cables for PS3 gamers.

And separating good cables from bad cables is simple.

The key thing to look for in an HDMI cable is HDMI certification to Version 1.3b. This is the most current HDMI standard and all cables should be made to this standard; but oftem they're not so you have to make sure the cable is new generation product and not from last year. Version 1.3 addresses certain problems inherent in Version 1.2 and also offers enhancements as follows:

-48-Bit Color Depth - Version 1.3 increases color depth up to maximum 48-bit color as compared to the maximum 24-bit depth of previous versions. Version 1.3 has twice the color depth of 1.2. Particularly important with PS3 as they are Version 1.3 compliant and offer 48-bit color.

-Lip Sync - In a Digital TV, typically the video processing takes more time than the audio. As a result, lip sync can become an issue where it's noticeable to the viewer, creating an effect similar to that of a badly dubbed movie. HDMI 1.3 provides a method whereby the audio processing times in devices can be automatically adjusted to remove lip sync.

-If you need more reasons to go with Version 1.3, there are many others so I suggest you check the HDMI website.

Whatever you do, don't buy somebody's leftover stock from last year. Make sure it is Version 1.3. That one bit of criteria will help you sift through the low end cables out there. I want the best picture I can get. I bought an expensive TV and a blu-ray DVD player and I certainly don't want my HDMI cable getting in the way of the best picture I can get.

Mediabridge is a premium cable that meets the higher standards of Version 1.3. And this pricing is exceptionally good for this quality cable. There are certainly other cables around that meet this standard as well. Basically. Mediabridge is offering a great cable at a great price here.
