Product Description
Soundfly SD lets you listen to sound files such as MP3 & WMA file stored in portable memory devices like USB flash memory & SD card, etc through your car radio speakers. It supports RDS (Radio Data System), so while listening to music, you can see the song and artist's name displayed on your car stereo. Soundfly SD transmits to all FM frequencies (87.6MHz - 107.9MHz) and memorizes up to 7 FM frequencies. It comes with fully functional remote control. You can also transmit music from other Mp3 players such as iPod, Zune etc. Just plug USB or SD card in Sound-Fly & Enjoy music!

4 out of 5 stars Overall great product   August 28, 2008
I bought this for my husband's birthday so that he would be able to take more of his music with him on long road trips. So far, this is a great little product. Easy to use right out of the box. Had me playing MP3's in the car straight away from my flash drive. It is easy to switch songs and folders while driving using the remote control that comes with it and it remembers your place so that you don't have to start over every time you get in the car! Sound quality is equivalent to FM radio (which is why it received a 4 star rating instead of 5). But since this item is relatively inexpensive, the quality is way better than expected! I would highly recommend the product and may have to get another one for my car!

4 out of 5 stars Decent Sound and great seller   August 28, 2008
I had to change my review since I last posted. The seller went out of their way to find FM frequencies in my area to try after I mentioned that I had terrible sound from this device. The sound is like a regular FM station (a notch bellow CD quality) and I found using a usb stick instead of my mp3 player produced way better sound quality. Fun gadget, I'm glad I bought it.

5 out of 5 stars ff/rw makes this a clear winner   August 28, 2008
This is what I am looking for in order to play mp3s in my old car:
1. cigarette adapter power (no batteries to recharge)
2. fm transmitter (no cables for a tape adapter)
3. read from USB

Those are the basics, and there are plenty of products out there that fill that need (I have been using a Ziga model for a while). They work great, except for one thing - if you have a long mp3 (like a podcast or mix), they usually start over again at the beginning of the song when you turn your car off and back on. Since most have no fast-forward, that's kind of annoying.

The soundfly is the first product I have seen that has ff/rw, which I now think is absolutely essential for this type of device. On top of that, the soundfly has a bookmark feature which will save the exact spot in the song for when you turn the car back on. Again, very nice feature.

I used this for a long road trip across the US and it worked well. Only had to change the FM tuner a few times (I kept it mostly in the 88 range but it lets you tune any frequency). I was able to listen to several large audiobook mp3s without any problems - I could just ff to the exact spot I needed instead of starting over again (quite a problem when each file is almost an hour long).

Downsides? Well, the number one downside with any FM transmitter is a little extra noise being broadcast, or having to turn the volume up more than normal. I have seen that with every FM transmitter I have used, and while I think the soundfly is better than average in this respect, I don't think there is any way to really get around that when you are doing this sort of thing. I will point out that the other person riding in the car didn't notice any noise/hiss problems at all, so it could just be I'm being extra picky.

Bottom line - highly recommend this product if you are looking for a simple solution to play mp3s in an old car. The ff/rw and bookmark alone give it a tremendous advantage over other products in this arena. The fact that it has a remote, and you can tune any channel are excellent features as well, but they are just icing on the cake for me.

3 out of 5 stars POOR TRANSMITTER   August 17, 2008
THE DESIGBN IS GREAT THE TECHNOLOGY IS ALSO GOOD.
THE TRANSMITTER IS VERY POOR . TOO MANY INTERFERANCE.
IT TRANSMITS VERY LOW AND WHEN I AM IN TOWN THERE ARE TOO MANY FREQUENCY OVERIDES.THIS IS FAR BELOW THE PREVIOUS MP3 PLAYER I OWNED.
SINCE EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE TRANSMITTED TO THE RADIO I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO GIVE THIS UNIT A 3 STAR RATING.

2 out of 5 stars will not play on car radio   August 16, 2008

I've spent about five hours trying to get this unit to work through my car radio. After matching both frequencies and trying to play my SD card there appears to be no transmission to radio at all. I even re-loaded my SD card three times to properly marked "MP3" folder. The unit lights up when plugged in...the remote control changes all functions but no sound on car radio. I cannot find manufacturer on Internet for troubleshooting. My 30 day return to Amazon has expired due to vacation so I guess this goes into the junk heap.
