Product Description To deliver image-perfect detail and clarity, the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam combines Logitech's premium autofocus technology with Carl Zeiss optics. The Logitech webcam uses a voice coil motor for its autofocus system, instead of a stepper motor. Focusing is fast and fluid - crisp even in extreme close-ups only 10 cm from the camera lens. Logitech's autofocus system compensates for changes in image-edge sharpness and refocuses images in less than three seconds. And through its exclusive collaboration with Carl Zeiss, Logitech ensures that the lens meets the world-renowned Zeiss standards for design and manufacturing to achieve superior sharpness in a compact, lightweight design. The 2-megapixel sensor helps the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam capture video images in high resolution. It is assisted by Logitech's RightLight 2 technology, which enables the webcam to adjust intelligently in dim or harshly backlighted situations.

Best Cam yet October 9, 2008 Quick delivery. Solid performance. One Con: the "clamp" should be spring loaded. I had to resort to velcro to keep the cam in place atop my Apple Cinema Display.
Very good, though pricey, webcam October 7, 2008 System used: 2.8 GHz Mac Pro (Note that this is a high-end system.)
Excellent iChat video (640x480, according to the documentation): Excellent exposure, excellent autofocus
With QuickTime Pro 7, gives four choices of input format, listed as: Good (MPEG-4) [640x480, presumably 30 fps] Better (H.264) [320x240, presumably 30 fps] Best (H.264) [640x480, 30 fps] Device Native [1600x1200, 5 fps] The slow frame rate at maximum resolution was a disappointment to me. I cannot recommend video at that slow a frame rate, though still photographs should be fine. (Apparently, higher resolutions than 640x480 combined with frame rates of 30 fps are very expensive.)
A cheaper alternative is available October 4, 2008 A much cheaper cam is the Gear Head WC830I. It also plugs into the USB port and just works. The Logitech cam possibly might have some superior qualities, but the Gear Head is just fine for me.
Doesn't work on my G5. October 2, 2008 Must be an incompatibility somewhere (?) but I get a lag between the video and the sound. It gets worse by increments until at about a 60-seconds lag, the thing's completely unusable. I can leave the office, cross the road and I'm still "live" in the iChat window on my other computer when I get home. Surreal. Might be because of my non-Intel 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5, but the specs are well above the minimum requirements on the box. No thanks to Logitech. I don't have the problem with an old Apple i-sight camera on the same machine, so it's not the line or my hardware. Logitech's technical support is rubbish, so the camera's going back.
Fabulous Products - Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac September 29, 2008 I have purchased Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac from here, and I find this product is easy to use and with high image quality!
If you have your ibook without Camera, I suggest you to buy this one! You will never regret!!
