Product Description To deliver image-perfect detail and clarity, the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam combines Logitech's premium autofocus technology with Carl Zeiss optics. The Logitech webcam uses a voice coil motor for its autofocus system, instead of a stepper motor. Focusing is fast and fluid - crisp even in extreme close-ups only 10 cm from the camera lens. Logitech's autofocus system compensates for changes in image-edge sharpness and refocuses images in less than three seconds. And through its exclusive collaboration with Carl Zeiss, Logitech ensures that the lens meets the world-renowned Zeiss standards for design and manufacturing to achieve superior sharpness in a compact, lightweight design. The 2-megapixel sensor helps the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam capture video images in high resolution. It is assisted by Logitech's RightLight 2 technology, which enables the webcam to adjust intelligently in dim or harshly backlighted situations.

Excellent Webcam for Mac September 5, 2008 I looked at a good number of webcams, and read a LOT of reviews before settling on this one. In a word, it's Great! Don't confuse the older Windows model if you're looking to run it on a Mac. This model is completely compatible and is plug and play. I opened the box, plugged it in the USB port, set it on my monitor and voila! I had video. iChat and Skype recognized it immediately.
I've used it flawlessly with Skype video calls and the picture quality and audio quality are outstanding. The lens provides a wide angle shot so I don't have try to stay exactly in front of the webcam. The audio is sensitive enough that I can speak in a normal voice and be heard clearly. I've also used it on Adobe's ConnectNow webinar program doing a video conference with outstanding results.
It may be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you want a webcam that just works, like your Mac just works, this is for you.
Great Image...when it works August 29, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This cam has great image quality when it works properly. The problem is, that when you turn it on, sometimes the image is very dark. The only way that I've found to get the brightness back is to restart iChat, unplug and then plug back in the cam on the usb port. Logitech customer support has been of little help, and takes forever to answer your pleas for help. I've read elsewhere of other people having this same problem, so I think it's the cam and not my computer or software. If you buy it and it does work, you will be very happy with this cam...you pays your money and you takes your chances as they say.
It works on Vista, too! August 24, 2008 I have a dual-boot Mac Pro that I run Vista on from a separate drive via Boot Camp. I was on the fence about purchasing this, because I was afraid it would only work on OS X on the Mac partition. I took a chance and purchased it anyway. To my surprise, running Vista native in Boot Camp I found it works as well! Windows will not recognize it under Scanners and Cameras in the control panel, and it doesn't work in all apps (Windows Movie Maker wouldn't recognize it) but it shows up in Skype as well as online apps such as YouTube and UStream. Video quality is excellent and Autofocus/Autoexposure features work as advertised.
So fresh and so clean August 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This camera is excellent. The image it produces is crisper than the one my iSight produces. I am completely satisfied and highly recommend it.
For the people who are having trouble: The camera needs a usb2 connection and only works with os x version 10.4.11 and up.
Caution: Requires Operating System OS 10.4.11 or higher August 16, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I believe this webcam may work well as described, however, after receiving it and spending quite a bit of time trying to figure out why my Mac did not recognize this camera I decided to contact Logitech support before returning this camera. I am still using OS 10.3.9 and very happy. But per Logitech; the webcam that you are using is only supported in Mac OS 10.4.11 or higher. The camera is not properly detected because it does not meet the requirement is order to function. This is not mentioned on any of their literature, website or in the wecam instructions. I hope this assists in keeping down the returns.
