I can't comment on the quality phone as I'm sending it back before completely unpacking it. I immediately noticed there is no headset jack on the handset. As I frequently use a headset for business calls so I can type while on the phone, this is a deal-breaker for me. Ironic that Amazon features a headset as a recommended accessory under 'better together' - thus my assumption there would be a jack. This is the first cordless phone I've purchased that does not have a headset jack.

The product is a good value The answering machine is clear and easy to operate. There is occasional interference when using the phone but otherwise the sound is quite clear

Bought this phone 2 weeks back. Very good voice and clarity. Answering system voice is low.

I bought this pint-sized digital "system" to replace a GE corded phone with sticky keys ever since I spilled a Coke on it over two years ago. I saw all of the hype on Amazon regarding best-selling "6.0 Dect" phones, but since I've had no interference problems, I thought the 5.8 GHz would be close enough to state-of-the-art to satisfy me. It's an impressive device technologically speaking--my wife couldn't believe that this compact little handset contained an answering machine, a phone book, and a speaker until I pointed them out--all squeezed into an oblong block small enough to fit in my shirt pocket.
If your memory goes back to phones with dials (as I recall, push buttons were rare until the '70s, and an answering machine was revolutionary until the '80s), you may have mixed feelings about these little overachievers. The sound quality is adequate but nothing remarkable--predictably more boxed-in, or confined, than my old corded GE. And the multiple uses of a minimal number of controls plus the somewhat complicated, detailed instructions really make me miss the old basic telephone whenever I'm in a rush or facing anything remotely resembling an emergency. (I hate to admit it, but I require no more than several dedicated buttons to store the phone numbers of people I might call more than once a month.) At least the vertical look and narrow stance should be averse to spillage from another Coke can.
Afterthought: the phone is somewhat deceptive in the photo, which makes it appear larger than it actually is. The base might offer the user some of the stability of older phones were it not so small and flat (it's usually covered with papers, music, and assorted desk clutter). In some respects, the decision of my son and numerous other young people these days to go exclusively with their cell phone as their main phone makes sense. In fact, this Panasonic bears more resemblance to the popular midget cellular devices than to the old-style, "regular" phone--except for the omission of a camera, MP3 player, and GPS device. (Come to think of it, unlike the features that come with recent cell phones, I can't even surf Amazon let alone write reviews on the site using this primitive device.)
