Still great after all these YEARS of use. March 25, 2008 I've had this external for YEARS, and it's as perfect as the day i bought it, it's even outlasted 2 laptops!
I love this thing, it's very very reliable. I've never had a problem with overheating, data loss, configurations, or any other hardware problems. It's plug-and-play, with basic computer knowledge required.
I also have a 750 Gig one, but i'm never giving up this little gem as its never given me a moments pause; i've used it through college and now while i'm getting my masters.
I highly recommend, my roomate had an Iomega that sparked and flamed from the power button...not good times... he now has a seagate!
Seagate February 8, 2008 A friend suggested I get this so I did. I've never had a issue in which I had to use it yet. It continually backs up my work so i it is there "if" I have to use it. It gives me a wonderful "piece of mind".
Recommended December 21, 2007 I hate to buy new equipment, always afraid of the months of back and forth with the manufacturer when you get a lemon.
I must say, its been running strong for a year without a hitch. I use it to save photos, backup my computers, music and so much more.
A great drive.

Another failed Seagate December 19, 2007 The power dropped at my house during a storm and the Seagate external drive became corrupted. My Dell PC with Win XP SP2 will no longer recognize the drive. Seagate Tech support and their utilities were no help. I am buying a Hitachi, now.
Extremely difficult to know when the thing is ON or working. November 30, 2007 Are they trying to save some money by putting a really bad power LED indicator or is it just a bad design decision? The fact of the matter is that it is very difficult to see the LED status unless you shut all the lights of your room off.
