GOOD MOUSE. EXCEPT THE BATTERY LIFE a little bit short May 2, 2008 Very good mouse. Easy to use. The MicroGear is great. But the battery can only last for 2 or 3 days if I use it in office for whole day. But it worth the low price.
Revolution Roulette April 30, 2008 Like another reviewer (Dead on Arrival, Matthew Townsend), my refurbished mouse arrived dead. I wasted a lot of time figuring that out, though. Here are some things that might help (These comments are from WinXP and Vista32 installations.): 1. The laser on a good, working mouse is NOT visible in any normal sense, so this is not a clue. 2. If it's going to move the screen pointer at all, it will do it WITHOUT Logitech's software, so don't spend time figuring out which version of Setpoint you need install and uninstall and reinstall if there is no movement of the pointer when the mouse is moved...the problem is more basic. 3. If there is no communication from the mouse, try a different USB port. Even with a good mouse, sometimes a port will not initialize if hot-swapping the USB dongle. The best bet seems to boot with the dongle already in place. I was pressed for time after ordering & trouble-shooting a non-functional unit so I bought a new MX locally, and it immediately worked, proving the fault of the refurbished mouse. On the plus side, the refurbished unit LOOKED good, and now that I have one that works, I'm already hooked on the MX's Revolution-ary free-wheel scrolling. I think the Microsoft mice are more bullet-proof and reliable, but I really like the features of the MX. I just hope it holds up. There have apparently been many returns due to (mostly) the rubber grip band on the scroll wheel swelling/loosening and therefore binding the wheel over time (See Logitech's user forum). I just wish that whoever is doing the refurbishing of these units would actually TEST them before they're shipped out. It's probably cheaper (i.e., good business;) to give exclusive distribution of lots of these to certain outlets like Amazon and let them pay for shipping on some predictable percentage of returns (you've got 30 days to do the testing yourself and try again!). It might be a good idea in this particular case to check out the extended warranty/replacement plan Amazon offers. $6/10 gives them a year/two years to get it right. Note that, per comments I've come across in forums, this unit(like most wireless mice) is not recommended for gaming enthusiasts.
Perfect April 14, 2008 I was a little nervous buying a refurbished mouse, but I'm so glad I did. This is the best mouse I have ever used, by far. There are functions on this mouse that I never knew I needed. It only takes an hour or so to charge and it lasts for a good three weeks before I have to place it back onto the charger. The refurbished price makes it that much more sweet. As long as it doesn't break in the next 12 months, I will be a very satisfied customer.
Pretty nice! April 14, 2008 I am replacing my old Logitech MX Laser mouse with this one as my old mouse is getting tired. I am pretty happy with the battery life, it has been more than a week and it is still charged. The scroll wheel is a little strange, it switches between the standard click-click wheel to a free-spinning wheel. I knew this before my purchase, however it functions different than expected. The default settings will actually track which application you are using and switch between the two modes automatically, which I found a little difficult to get used to. I have switched this feature off, and only use the manual switching mode now. Also, when in free-spinning mode, it seems to scroll very slowly. I can scroll much faster in the click-click mode than in the free-spinning mode. It also doesn't appear that you can adjust the speed of the free-spinning mode (you still can with the click-click mode).
The wheel on the side, under the thumb, also is a bit strange. It doesn't seem that you can change the function of this wheel. The only thing it appears to do is control the application swap tool, which allows you to switch between open applications. I would like to have been able to program this wheel somehow.
Overall it is a very nice mouse, it has very nice tracking, much more precise than even my previous MX Laser mouse, which is saying a lot. This is very nice hardware; I just wish the software was a little more polished.
Great Mouse April 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've always wanted this mouse but was having trouble paying the full asking price. However, these refurbished mice are great! I can't tell that it's referbed and no one else I know can either. They keep their charge well, I usually have to charge it once a week and thats with 3-4 hours of use a night. I really love the scroll wheel, both on the side and the free scrolling wheel on top.
The software is something to be desired (setpoint) but the program uberOptions (Goolge it) allows you to customize each button. It give you a lot more control over what buttons do what.
A fantastic Mouse!
