The gadget itself is cool. But the conversion of the video takes forever and then it goes through an AOL server to email. So overall it's decent for the price. But you could just use the video feature on your camera.
upload issues July 6, 2008
On the fourth try, and more than an hour's worth of frustration the software finally transfered to my computer from the unit's USB plug.
The picture quality is surprisingly good for the compact package. The picture files are too big to send via email and haven't tried posting to YouTube yet.

When this was first out it received raves but now there are similar ones with a memory card.
Great Concept for the price July 5, 2008
I was excited to get my product and used it right out of the box within moments of it arriving. It was really easy to setup (just add batteries and go). Making a video with this camcorder is very easy and downloading it back onto my PC is also a breeze.
However, when I played back the video for the first time I was a little disheartened to hear the dreaded "buzzing" noise in the soundtrack (kind of like geese in the distance). I contacted Flip support and they organized a replacement for me.
The new camcorder has much better sound quality than the old one and the noise (although still there in quiet spots) is considerably less.
I think this is a good camcorder for the price and will definitely do the job I bought it for. Don't forget that you are paying just $120-130 for this device, and you get what you pay for. The next step up is hundreds of dollars more, with much more complexity and probably a much steeper learning curve.
I would say that this is a great first step for most people and great value.
