Description Step into the magical world of Xanadu with this dazzling Special Edition of one of the most extraordinary musicals ever! Superstars Olivia Newton-John (Grease) and Gene Kelly (Singin' in the Rain) star in this beloved film spectacular about a beautiful muse who is sent from heaven to help a struggling artist open a roller-disco. And now, this out-of-this-world fantasy sparkles like never before with a digitally remastered picture, new 5.1 surround sound audio track, all-new bonus features, and a music CD of the complete soundtrack featuring Olivia Newton-John and the Electric Light Orchestra. With songs like "Xanadu", "Magic", "Suddenly", 'I'm Alive' and "All Over the World", it's a dream come true for musical fans everywhere!
Amazon.com A wimpy remake of an already anemic movie (the 1947 Rita Hayworth vehicle Down to Earth), this glitzy musical from 1980 improbably stars Olivia Newton-John as a heavenly muse sent here to help open a roller-derby disco. Gene Kelly is mixed up in this well-meaning but goofy effort to fuse nostalgia with late-'70s glitter-ball trendiness, and he looks just plain silly. Directed by Robert Greenwald, the film doesn't even work as decent kitsch. --Tom Keogh

Nice upgrade September 7, 2008 The new Xanadu DVD is a nice upgrade over the original release. The sound is far better, the picture is clearer and the widescreen is real widescreen. As this film relies upon its songs to attract viewers, the only way to see it is in real stereo with nice, rich, clean sound--and this version of the DVD delivers just that. Worth the purchase price for the Gene Kelly dance alone!
Xanadu Magical Musical edition August 30, 2008 Great sound and nusic. Excelent package. Wish they would have included a new soundtrack (everybody who is interested in buying this edition already have the original soundtrack)with bonus tracks, like Fool country and You made me love you that doesn't appear in the original soundtrack.
A blast from the past August 28, 2008 When I first heard that this movie was making a come back I knew I wanted to buy it. I was happy that Amazon had it and I ordered it right away. The last time I had seen this movie I was around 11 or 12 years old. This year I'm going to be 36. So it's been a while. Loved it then and love it now. We all have our favorites, don't we?
eh. August 28, 2008 i love xanadu. we watched over and over as kids and roller skated all the time in the early 80's. as for this package...i like the art work (except the slip cover with the sticker that will not peal off), i liked the retrospective, though i was disappointed olivia was not interviewed on it. i ordered this edition for the "complete soundtrack." it said complete so i assumed fool/country would be on it as well as the second duet w\between olivia and gene kelly and maybe even some of the instrumental. it is the same soundtrack that you can but separately.so, it's really not complete. but it was great seeing olivia and xanadu again!
I cannot WAIT to go see it on Broadway! August 20, 2008 I love this movie. I am SO GLAD it came with the soundtrack because I had a weird burned version of it from a friend and it was missing some songs. I can't tell you if the quality is any better than VHS, but it looked great on my PS3/Sony Bravia. This movie is cheesy and so much fun. The music, by ELO, captures the era perfectly. I walk around humming Xanadu, Xanadu-u-u....so catchy!
