Amazon.com While Tae-Bo master Billy Blanks is clearly inspired by his faith, his inspirational workout is really a Tae-Bo workout set to choir music. The spiritual portion of this 68-minute tape consists of a couple of two-minute segments in which Blanks tells how finding Jesus Christ helped him find his purpose. Which isn't to say it's not a good workout. With a roomful of people of all races and ages behind him, Blanks takes viewers through a 27-minute workout from stretching to roundhouse kicks and back down again. Viewers unfamiliar with Blank's trademark kickboxing workouts should heed the video box warning and head straight to the second half of the tape, in which he and three women demonstrate the techniques of Tae-Bo: throwing jabs, right crosses, left hooks, and upper cuts. If you can get past the sight of his assistant's impossibly defined abs, you'll learn which muscles to use and get the basic motions down. But don't try to use the demonstration as an actual workout because he only works one side of the body. When you're ready, hit the rewind button and try out your new skills on the inspirational workout while the background choir sings "Hallelujah, Thank You, Jesus." --Kimberly Heinrichs

Good 30 minute cardio workout to gospel music. June 16, 2002 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I picked this tape up at my local Best Buy and wanted to try it out because I wasn't sure what Billy Blank was driving at with the title Tae Bo Inspirational. Billy gives a few minutes at the beginning and end of the tape as to his spiritual feelings about life in general, not just exercise. It's not long and it's not preachy and I have had the video long enough that I usually fast forward to the actual warmup. If you have any of his other tapes and I have them all then you know what to expect. The difference between this video and his usual Tae Bo Basic series are two fold: 1) He does his exercise routine to very uplifting gospel music. So if you don't like gospel or feel it would be too distracting then stick with his other videos. I found it to be just fine. 2) More emphasis is placed on the lower body. You get the punches, etc. but I found he has more routines that involve the legs. Much as I like Billy Blank he still has the same problem that is present in every single one of his tapes. He is still forgetting to do the same number of repetitions of each exercise on each side. For us veterans we are all too familiar with Billy's habit of starting to talk to the viewers or to the class participants and forget to tell his daughter to change to the other side. He does this in at least 3 sets of exercises on this tape. If I remember I usually change the side myself so I don't feel so lopsided. If you don't care about that but just that your heart rate will stay in it's target zone then no problem. You won't have any problems there.
Real!!! June 6, 2001 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I liked this type a lot because it seemed as if I was in an actual gym,working-out with regular people. Having people who are not models, made the whole routine fun and real. Being a Billy Blanks fan, it was also nice to have a small presentation at the begining of the tape. He explains a bit about his career and how he's found something wonderfully inspiring in his life. The work-out is not so vigerous, but you will still get a nice even work-out. Since, it's not a long session, I find that I can combine this tape with one of his others. Anyhow, it's worth adding to your Billy Blank's collection.
