Good for autocross use, possibly not the best choice for other applications. November 18, 2008 I have purchased 3 of these pumps: two of them from Amazon, and one from Pep-Boys. The most recent one (from Amazon) arrived with shipping damage as they are simply shipped in the retail box with no protection. These pumps have a large heavy motor so the inflate your tires more quickly than smaller less powerful pumps and pull a lot of current from your cars electrical system. However due to this big motor, a friend who tried to use my pump blew the fuse in his 10 year old car. If you don't need a fast, powerful pump for frequent use you might want a lighter more compact pump. Another thing I like about this pump is that it is much quieter than any other air pump I have ever used.
Company out of business? Buyer beware September 25, 2008 Mine worked great until it just up and died about ten months after I bought it. Amazon warranty was only 30 days, and the manufacturer (DV Innovations) seems to have gone belly up (disconnected phone number, web site now blank) so buyer beware. Wish I had used my AmEx for extended warranty, hindsight being 20/20.
Pump's OK, but accessories suck September 7, 2008 The pump works well. The parts that come with it are junk. The air hose has a threaded fitting on the end, which is OK for cars, but miserable for bikes, which is why I bought it. The fitting is hard to attach and remove, and most of the air you've just put in bleeds back out. It's a frustrating, repetitive process. If you want it for bikes with higher pressure tires, just accept that you'll be off to the local NAPA store for a hose and fitting that work, which will cost about the price of the compressor. Also, the bag is complete trash. Figure on tossing it, too, and getting something durable to carry the items.
THIS PRODUCT HAS SAVED ME DOZEN'S OF TRIPS TO THE GAS STATION September 4, 2008 Imma make this short and simple.Gas Stations charge you $.50 cents for 1 minutes of air, which is only good for 1 tire.So if you have 3 underinflated tires then you are going to spend $1.50 and you better do it quick. Not only is putting air on tires in your gas station a hasssle,(what if it's raining, what if you don't have coins,(those machines don't accept credit cards lol),what if your 60 seconds run out?)My advice to any car owner is please buy it and keep it in your car 24/7.It has been one of the best purchases I have made in my life (I have made alot of bad decisions)
Decent pump for price July 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received this product and for the price it's not all bad. It came with a carry bag which makes storing the compressor, the hose and attachments easy. My 4 star rating is purely price related... I've used products costing 2x as much that had trouble blowing up a mattress, this one does ok. For me its primary use would be for pumping up the boat toys and air mattress when we go camping. When trying to top-off a tire in my Integra it blew a fuse like some earlier comments, It appears the way to correct it is to turn the compressor on first then connect it to the tire, following that order I was able to use it just fine, it added approx 5 psi in about a 45-60 seconds. If you're looking for pumping up tires I would not recommend this product as it will not last very long for this purpose. occasional tire top-off and blowing up mattresses this thing does with ease and fairly quietly. In summary this product considering its price and purpose has 2 issues in my opinion: 1) have to run the compressor before connecting the tire 2) a 110v plug would be really nice to use around the house once in a blue moon.
