It?s a rare human who actually enjoys clipping a dog?s nails; and rarer still, the dog who enjoys it. Enter Dremel?s cordless groomer, a quiet, battery-powered rotary tool that gently grinds down your pet?s nails without cutting. We happen to know a particular hound named Sophie who?s endured more than her share of cracked nails and bleeding nail beds, the result of the standard guillotine-type nail trimmers. Though she was a bit wary of the Dremel, she sniffed at it and decided it was harmless. Then we set it on the floor and turned it on. Sophie seemed concerned for a minute, but then lost interest. We let her get used to the sound of the Dremel for a few minutes, then got down to business. We expected her to cringe and pull away when we took paw in hand, for what usually follows is not pleasant for her. She submitted reluctantly at first to the Dremel, probably expecting the worst, but once we distracted her with a piece of rawhide, she forgot about the nail hubbub and let us carry on. The whole thing was quick and painless, which made a change for Sophie, and was actually kind of soothing for the humans, which definitely made a change for us. We followed the advice in the manual and alternated between two paws at a time, not keeping the abrasive on any nail for more than a couple of seconds, and we made sure each nail was cool before grinding it a second time. If we had a criticism, it would be to wish only that Dremel would include the -inch drum for larger dogs like Sophie as well as the smaller one. I bought this item for use in an animal shelter. At the low power setting the dog if not as afraid but it takes forever. At the high powered setting it hurts the dog and the dog is afraid of the noise. So I'm down to using it to cut dogs nails that have just been neutered/spayed and haven't woken up yet.

Great product! I never tought I'd find anything that my Rottweiler would let touch his paws, but this Dremel is great. I also tried the PediPaws, did not like it at all. Rommel's nails were so long I was able to file more than just a few seconds per nail, but I went with what I saw was comfortable for my dog, so that should be your guide. Thank you Dremel!!
 Good but not great October 10, 2008
Well, my dog hates it. I've used it a bunch of times and she still gives me a murderous look everytime I pull it out, then she runs to her bed. It takes about 30-60 seconds for me to file EACH nail (her nails grow long, thick, and fast), which means it takes just under 5 minutes for each paw, with lots of wriggling and wrestling. I wish I'd gotten the larger size because the heads they gave me seem too small/not rough enough for my dog's nails. She is only 40 pounds.
I guess it's less harmful than regular clippers, but it is still not a pleasant experience. Overall, I'd recommend it because it's easy to assemble and uses batteries, but just know that it's not a miracle solution to doggy pedicures.

This is a great product. I love using it on my dog and she seems to enjoy it also. I find that it is not that noisey, and price was great. Would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind trimming their dogs nails.

This product works just as described. My dogs usually run from me when I approach them with the nail clipper; but they really don't seem to mind this tool. It's really a good idea and their nails are nice and smooth when I finish. I highly recommend.
