Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

This shoulder plane is made from premium grade macarssar ebony. It is equiped with special tool steel blade, which is secured in place with ebony wedge.

This type of plane can be used as a trimming tool to fit shoulders, rabbets and dadoes.

The blade requires honing before first use. A small hammer(3-4 OZ) can be used to adjust depth of cut. Tapping the heel of the plane will loosen the wedge and blade. Start with lightest cut as you can at the very begining, after you get more familiar with the tool, you can increase the depth of cut by tapping the end of blade.

5 out of 5 stars Well made and a pleasure to use!   June 17, 2008

I bought this and other planes directly from Zen, and I must say the craftmanship is first class! You would obviously love wood and woodworking to be interested in such planes, and to hold and use them is a real joy. They are curved in just the right places to fit the hand so as give give maximum feedback and contol. Adjusted properly they are capable of removing tissue-thin cuttings as well as occasionally "hogging-off" some real wood. I can't recommend them enough to lovers of fine woodworking -- and you can't beat the price!!
