Not too bad for the price March 21, 2007 It took a little getting used to at first. Then once you learned how to read it and calibrate properly, this stud finder works well for walls that aren't too thick.
Pencil & eraser not included. How many marks did you leave? September 16, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Oh my what a neat looking tool I thought... Sure I've read about someone driving a screw into a copper water line & water spraying everywhere lol. Thought it would be nice to have the metal & electrical features. Only 2 stars...1. it detects metal 2. it does detect electrical. Big whoop! Wheres the studs? The wall now looks like my 4 yr old neice got her first pencil. Thats ok I'll just waste the day erasing pencil dots & trying again & again to be sure I find an actual stud!! I certainly have nothing better to do. I waiting for my wife to say. You haven't hung the picture yet! I asked you to do it an hour ago! I wouldn't hang anything heavy I don't trust the stud sensors accuracy at all. The laser level is fun to watch at least the dog likes it & thats all its really for just a rough guess. The beam wasnt bright either. The crafts brand laser kit is great compared to this. I checked the bulls against a beam type bubble level with a laser stuck in its end. Are your studs 2" thick? If you put your finger anywhere the bullseye your instantly become stud too lol. After multiple calibrations & a sore wrist its going back to the clearance store at only $15.00 this oversized monster isnt worth storing. I have an Stan. intelligent stud sensor, it only does studs & it works great & the studs are 1" 3/4 thick. I have tried 2 other "brand name" stud sensors that failed severly compared to the very simple intelligent stud sensor. model. So what did we learn from this review? If you have an accurate stud sensor dont replace it for any fancy stuff.
Good enough for most of your leveling, stud finding and electical wire location needs August 27, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
A bit cumbersome in that you have to tightly and continuously hold down the button when using the stud finder, but if you read the directions on how to find a stud, and then maybe read them again as they are a bit awkwardly written, you'll hit a stud every time. The level works perfectly, hangs easily and is quite handy. The AC wire sensor is a nice safety feature. The Amazon price is actually quite a bit lower than what I paid at Home Depot. Gave it four stars instead of five because it's a bit large and it's bulk gets in the way sometimes....plus holding the button down for the stud finder is problematic when you accidently let firm pressure off and then have to take the several seconds to power it up again, which gets irritating if it keeps happening.
I like it though. Would definitely buy it again but on Amazon this time. Prefer it greatly over a bubble level and tapping on the drywall to find a stud.

laser is inaccurate August 12, 2006 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I tested it with my bubble level and chalkline and tape measure and it will give you a "droopy" line high in the middle and droops low on both sides of the laser.
