We use it to brush our pool, wash our car October 3, 2008 I found this very useful at the pool, to brush away algae up to 4-5 ft. below the water line. It's quick and effective. The original brush was a bit too soft though so we had to purchase the 'deck' brush which is perfect for our fiberglass pool. By the way, there's enough juice in the battery for at least TWO pool cleaning cycles.
I can't see how this could perform any serious 'power-scrubbing' jobs. It's great for car-washing and pool-cleaning. I would not have very high expectations if this was intended for cleaning a deck.
OK for soft jobs August 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to scrub the oil stains the garage and the organic black growth between the bricks outside. Three immediate comments, (i) it is not very powerfull at all. If you push down to really scrub it will quickly stall out. Second, (ii) the power scrubber (black 8" disk sold separately) is still very soft. I have purchased the 4" to see if it is any more abrasive. Third, (iii) as stated by another review the length is not that convient to scrub the floor, and there is no handle to hold it. You do get the hang of keeping it on the dirty spots after a few minutes, but B&D needs to make the an 18" extention so you can stand up straight and make a handle like there other power tools so you can keep it straight better. Lastly, the "lock" didn't lock very well at all. If you push on, and not very hard, it will still pivot. I would not buy this if you need to "scrub" something, but if you just want a gentle brushing it is OK. I have many other 18V B&D tools and REALLY like the chain saw, trimmer, and even the garden tiller. But this items did not meet my expectations. Rob
swivel head does not lock in place! July 31, 2008 Overall a good product and nicely made. However, I bought two of these and neither one properly locks securely. The design supposedly allows for the wash head to either swivel freely or lock in place. When applying even moderate pressure the swivel head moves to its 90 degree position because the locking screw does not tighten properly! I plan to call the manufacturer and request they sent me a replacement. However, I suspect it may just be a poor design incapable of being fixed.
Very pleased! July 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Purchased this item as recommended by tomchoice, and a 8" hard scrub for use on my kitchen concrete floor. Must say that the hard scrub is not really that hard, so I used it with conjunction with Comet and the result is very satisfactory. It still is a slow process, but I do not need to be scrubbing on my knees, so I am happy. Will try out the 4" hard scrub which seems like it has thicker bristles from the picture. Will also buy a second one for my parents to clean their balcony. The soft brush it came with is good for autos, but I have no use as I bring my car to car washes. Maybe I can use it for floor polishing.
O.K. for Light Scrubbing July 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Only has a 10' reach if your arms are 4', but it sure beats a handheld brush! Actual length is ~6 feet. Used it to wash down vinyl siding and worked O.K. except electrical connector between the two halves could be better--putting any pressure on brush flexed the scrubber and would lose power intermittently. Not very powerful--brush bogged down with slightest pressure and battery only lasted ~20-30 minutes. Also needs better lock for locking angle of the brush. Only came with 8" auto-brush. Other brushes available for around $10-$18. Overall, I would still buy again until someone offers a scrubber that better addresses the above problems.
