  I'm a fan July 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love my Kindle. I travel continually, and my suitcase used to be half full of books. I love having only the kindle instead. The whispernet service is not available when I travel outside of the country, but it's easy to download items onto my Kindle with a cable to my computer in those cases. I find it comfortable and enjoyable to read it even for long periods of time, but then I am a person who enjoys reading on a computer too. I use my Kindle to subscribe to a newspaper and I love having the paper immediately available each morning no matter where I am. Being able to look up words I don't know using the Kindle dictionary, underline, cut out and save sections separately, and to write notes about the text are all additional nice features, even though I haven't used those yet. Only about half of the books that I want to read are available in the Kindle version, because I have somewhat unusual taste in books, but that hasn't been a problem, because there are still enough Kindle books that I want to read, that I have enough to keep me very busy reading. Right now I'm reading a Kindle book in French, so I'm waiting for Kindle to provide the dictionary function in other languages too. The only problem I've had so far is that my husband is sometimes reading it when I want to. It's beginning to look as if we might need 2 Kindles.
Excellent Gift!! July 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received the Kindle for my birthday. It is a great present - easy to use and convenient for reading the paper, magazine subscriptions or a book. My only issue is that I occasionaly hit the PREV and NEXT page buttons that run down the sides of the Kindle. Otherwise I love it.
Don't hesitate to buy the Kindle! July 9, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Kindle is wonderful. You won't regret buying it! One of the best features is the instant download feature. I was on the phone with a friend across the country and he was telling me of a great book he had just finished reading. Within minutes I had added it to my Kindle and was reading shortly thereafter.
Yes, the buttons are oddly placed but, you get used to the buttons after awhile. The display is perfect and does not glare at all and works with polarized sunglasses. When I am engrossed in a book, I catch myself trying to turn pages. Basically, this is a great device and I don't regret buying it at all!
Kindle Krazy July 9, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Since purchasing the kindle as a gift for my husband, I can truthfully say that he has thoroughly enjoyed reading the books he has downloaded from the amazon site. He says that reading a book on the kindle is exceptionally easier than reading books in hardback or paperback form.... you can never lose your place with a kindle. I wouldn't know because after 6 weeks I still haven't been able to get my hands on it.
is $350 a lot for this product? July 9, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
not if you like to read and you travel a lot good aspects-free download of first chapter of many books to sample holds plenty of books, no glare, ease of use not so good aspects-many common books you'd find in the library are not available, charts and graphs in textbooks cannot be enlarged, the device is not held as easily as a book, it is easier to find books you might be interested in reading at a bookstore or library, finding books of interest via kindle is much more difficult
