1 out of 5 stars Great in theory, terrible in practice   May 8, 2008

I have been waiting for a product like this for a long time. When i finally used it, i realized why no one ever brought one to market. What allows it to be curved and cut in both directions, also prevent it from cutting.

The product actually seems well constructed- but it's not until after you have a look at your new haircut that you see the shortfalls of it. It doesn't come close to an even cut. There will be nocieable chuncks of hair that you just can't even out, and you will end up having to go over the uneven cut with your trusty wahl.

4 out of 5 stars Good but could be better   May 7, 2008

Good:
- light weight
- fits well in your hand
- runs long enough per charge for a complete haircut
- trims hair around ears and side-burns
- easy to clean

Needs improvement:
- takes a while to charge up
- must run it through your hair several times to get an even cut
- power button a bit easy to press accidentally while using

This is such a unique product it actually does work before I got it I thought it would be some cheap new idea but it actually does a great job an d makes cleanup easy just run water through blades and thats it the way its shaped to your head makes things go so much faster this is a great product simple fast and just plain unique a one of a kind.

5 out of 5 stars BEST ELECTRIC DO-IT-YOURSELF HAIR CUTTER EVER   April 21, 2008
7 out of 8 found this review helpful

The Remington ShortCut hair clipper represents the most significant change in electric clipper design and intention ever presented by a major manufactuer. Capitalizing on the current popularity of ultra-short or bald hairstyles for men, Remington created a product that is INTENDED for the individual to be able to operate by themsleves. Lightwight, cordless, new ergonomic curved blade design, blades that cut both foward and backward, exteremly low maintainence are amoung it's revolutionary features. Cutting your hair with the ShortCut is much like brushing your hair and once you get the knack, and takes about as long. I found the results on me to be better with regard to shape (particularly in the outside corners of the head) and sharpness (less uneveness, stray hairs, etc.) than any other method of self cutting I have ever tried and SO MUCH FASTER. Fast and fun to use, it makes me want to use it more often.

Critically, I would say it's a little expensive at about $30 for the black model and $40 for the crome one. It doesn't come with a travel case which I think would be a good idea and should be included for this much money.

Still, if you're into short, uncomplicated hair cutting and doing it yourself, this is the state of the art, a quantum leap from what previously has been.
