In this workout, formerly titled Sweatin' to the Oldies 4, Richard Simmons leads another spirited and playful dance party. He and his group of wildly happy followers dance energetically to songs like "Shout," "Dance to the Music," "Heat Wave," "Proud Mary," "Devil with a Blue Dress," and "Mony Mony." His group of exercisers is smaller this time, but the band is larger, sometimes including gospel singers. This workout is longer and somewhat more intense than in earlier Sweatin' videos, with some faster and more intricate steps. If you're a complete beginner, start with one of the earlier ones, but if you've already worked your way up through the first three, you're ready for this one. 5 out of 5 stars Best One Yet   July 17, 2001

I have most of Richard's workouts. This one is by far the best, but only if you have done aerobics before. If you're a beginner, start with his first one and work your way up. The routines are more complex, but more varied. Not boring, in other words. If you're more into advanced aerobics, this is for you.

5 out of 5 stars Great when you get the hang of it!   March 8, 2001

This video is really great when you get the steps down. He is confusing at first, but after a few times you'll get it down. I have a herniated disk in my back so I haven't been able to go back to the Tae-Bo-type workouts quite yet. This video was wonderful for my back. It made me feel better, which (anyone with a bad back will tell you) is a miracle after aerobics. You aren't jolting your back at all. I add more intensity by incorporating larger movements into the workout. You don't have to follow him EXACTLY!

I would recommend this to anyone. My mom loves it and she's been the aerobics queen for years. At almost 60 years old, she can't handle the high-impact aerobics anymore. It's high-intensity, not high-impact. You get the same workout as you would jumping and jolting your joints in a high-impact aerobics class, without the trauma to your body. The music is great too!

3 out of 5 stars Never Knew What To Expect Next   January 30, 2001

I am not a beginner of video workouts. But I found this one confusing. By confusing I mean, I never knew the next step. I enjoyed the music but I was just jumping around and since Richard did not show nor tell you what kind of step you were going to be doing I could not get in sync with the tape. I prefer those videos that have more explicit instructions.

4 out of 5 stars Richard goes gospel   July 31, 2000

This is a typical fun, harder than it looks, great workout with Richard. The routines are interesting, the music great, and the enthusiasm about has high as Richard gets. I'd say that it would be good for Beginner to Intermediate, but a new Beginner would want to start out with a shorter (and easier) routine, then work up to this one.

5 out of 5 stars A Terrrrrifffffifc Workout!   July 29, 2000

I loved this video. This is the first Richard Simmons videos I have ever purchased. The workout is fabulous. Richard keeps you motivated with upbeat music. I started doing this video in mid-May and to date (7-28-00) I have lost 30 lbs. I never tire of this video. I plan on buying all Richard Simmons videos.
