Product Description
It would be incorrect to label Aikido as simply a martial art. Originally developed by Morihei Ueshiba, Aikido is a blend of martial arts, philosophy and spiritual beliefs. Today, this Japanese martial art is practiced around the world in a variety of styles, but no matter the range of interpretation, Aikido's roots are grounded in the "way of harmony" originated by Ueshiba, the O-Sensei, the Great Teacher. More than a science of tactics and self-defense, Aikido is considered a "Budo," a Japanese warrior art, which also disciplines one's spirit. In this enlightening documentary we not only discover the background of Aikido, but also we see first-hand demonstrations of techniques, which uniquely use the energy of an attack against the attacker. We learn of the power of being positive, blending, mind/body harmony, and the goal of non-violence, which opens the door for all ages, and all abilities, to be able to participate in Aikido. Approx. 30 minutes long.
