Product Description
Everything is different underground. Just ask the residents of Harmony, a futuristic world where alien catacombs can lead you astray?and where psychic senses spark out-of-this-world passion...

Reporter Sierra McIntyre's stories on Crystal City's ghost hunters?and their mysterious guild?have earned her tabloid a bit of respect. And they've allowed her to clothe her dust bunny companion Elvis in rock-and-roll style. It helps that she has mega-rez intuition to fall back on...

Especially when she interviews Ghost Hunter Guild Boss John Fontana about the disappearances of retired, homeless hunters. She doesn't want to trust the physically and psychically powerful man, but her senses?and Elvis?give her the green light. To uncover the conspiracy within his own organization, Fontana proposes...marriage. And though it's purely a business arrangement, there is nothing pure about the attraction that sizzles between them...

4 out of 5 stars More like 4 1/2 stars...   December 31, 2008
Welcome to Harmony, a unique world, where paranormal powers are the basis of civilization and aliens and ghosts are a part of daily life. And who could forget the dust bunnies, beloved companions who resemble their names until angered?

Sierra McIntyre is a tabloid reporter on a mission. She's determined to uncover the secrets of the Crystal City Ghost Hunter's Guild no matter what it takes... even if it means marrying Guild boss John Fontana. Will they be able to work together to find out who is behind ghost juice, an illegal drug affecting mainly ghost hunters? And will the Marriage of Convenience between Sierra and Fontana stand a chance at becoming a Covenant Marriage?

Jayne Castle returns to Harmony, the futuristic world she has created, for her fifth installment. Jayne Castle helpfully provides a brief synopsis of Harmony for readers new to the series making DARK LIGHT easily read as a stand alone. In addition, she provides other details as necessary throughout the story to ensure that one can jump right into DARK LIGHT without missing anything from prior books.

Dust bunnies always seem to steal the show with Jayne Castle's books and Elvis in DARK LIGHT is no exception. His outfits and his penchant for showmanship solidify why the name Elvis is so appropriate for Sierra's companion. I particularly like how Jayne Castle uses references from the real life of Elvis Presley in creating Elvis the dust bunny. However, it is Elvis' loyalty and willingness to protect Sierra that has stolen my heart!

Jayne Castle shows just why sci fi romances can be so much fun! The Ghost Hunter books tend to focus more on the adventure and thrill of Harmony and DARK LIGHT is no exception. The twist of having a tabloid reporter involved in discovering more about the alien culture left behind on Harmony only adds to the enjoyment. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Dark Light   December 17, 2008

Harmony is a futuristic world where humans have evolved over 200 years using their psychic senses as both an energy source and integral part of their lives. This world has lots of alien artifacts and even exotic pets called dust bunnies. The biggest part of this world is that there is an entire underground city of catacombs left behind by the aliens who died long before humans found Harmony. The only issue is that there are dangerous clusters of psychic energy (ghosts) and protection charms (traps) that were left behind when the aliens left. It takes special talents to be able to navigate these dangers.

Reporter Sierra has written some of the most controversial stories about the Crystal City ghost hunters and their organization (Guild). While she writes for a paper known for its tabloid ways, her stories tend to be a lot more truthful than made up. In fact the new head of the Crystal City Guild (John) has granted her an interview, as he is concerned about what she knows, as well as her safety.

Sierra is pursuing a story about retired Ghost Hunters who are going missing. No one but Sierra seems to care about them. That is until she is granted an interview with John. Sierra is stunned when she meets John; he is calling to her intuition that he is the man for her. But, no way could she be the match for a Ghost Hunter, and a Guild man to boot. But, when John convinces her that she needs to marry him during this first interview she agrees but only for a marriage of convenience, so that she can get a promised story.

The problem is that these two stubborn people might just learn to trust each other and love each other. Will they want to make this marriage permanent? Will they live to figure it out?

I love Jayne Castle's alternate universe of Harmony. I have followed the different characters through the series, which is loosely tied together through their living on Harmony, and Dark Light is just as good as all of the rest have been. I love how Ms. Castle makes her characters each have their own distinct personality and with the addition of the personalities of the dust bunnies you have to laugh out loud, more than once. I enjoyed how the character of John was able to logically convince Sierra she needed to marry him. I especially enjoyed the concept of the tabloid reporter having some truth to some of the stories. I found myself laughing out loud in more than one place, and not just at the dust bunny with the Elvis cape. Dark Light is a well-written addition to the Ghost Hunters Series and I know I won't be the only person who couldn't put this story down. Be prepared to have to change you plans when you find you have to finish the next and next chapters.

5 out of 5 stars Love the Ghost Hunters series!   December 8, 2008
I really like this series by Jayne Castle. This series intriques me with it's paranormal/alien theme. I like the dust bunnies too! Very different and unique read. I can usually read a ghost hunters story straight through. Dark Light was a good read. I just wanted a little more romance between hero and heroine. I really liked the hero and how he instantly wanted the heroine as his wife. I can't wait for the next one!

4 out of 5 stars Love this series!   November 29, 2008
I Love this series and this book is a pleasant addition. I like the main characters and the plot further explores the new "jungle" that was discovered in Ghost Hunter (Ghost Hunters, Book 3).

5 out of 5 stars I can't wait for the next one!   November 21, 2008
Another awesome read in this series! I just wish Jayne could write 'em faster! Can't wait for the next one! She has another Arcane series book coming out the end of December - yippee! You will enjoy this book if you love romance, with intelligent, funny characters who live on another planet with their dust bunny friends! If you haven't read one of her books in this series, what are you waiting for? Great fun! The only problem I have with her books...I can't put them down once I start one, so I'm all done within a few hours, and then have to start all over again!
