Product Description
Kristin Burns is making her way in New York City. Her photos are being considered at a major Manhattan gallery, she works by day with two wonderful children, and the man of her dreams is almost hers for keeps. But just as everything she's ever wanted is finally within reach, her life changes forever--with one murderous nightmare. Kristin wakes up every morning from the same chilling, unforgettable dream. And suddenly, it's visiting her during the day too. As her life turns stranger by the minute, Kristin is haunted and terrified. Is it all in her head? Or is the nightmare becoming her life? Kristin searches desperately for what's real through the lens of her camera, only knowing two things for sure: that no place is safe and the fate of everyone she loves lies in her hands.

5 out of 5 stars A MUST READ   January 5, 2009
I love this book. It's very intriguing. A great thriller with an interesting ending. MUST READ!!

1 out of 5 stars Major disappointment!!   December 24, 2008
In general I like most of what Patterson writes. He laid an egg this time. From it's supernatural undertones to generally unlikeable characters this was a waste of time. Fortunately it was a quick read and not much time was committed. I kept wanting the plot to have more substance and head off in an exciting direction. However it was a let down. It was a page turner but in the end it didn't deliver. Hopefully his next will be a more compelling read.

1 out of 5 stars I thought I was losing my mind....   December 22, 2008
This is the 2nd awful book I have listened to in the last week. I gave up on the first one (Santa Cruise by Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter).
I had to pick up the cover of the cd case and see if this was really James Patterson. Then I came to Amazon to see if it was just me. Now I see that it isn't. This books is beyond awful. I keep waiting for it to get better and it doesn't. There doesn't seem to be any point to what's happening and I don't even care to finish the book. I really hate having to give up on a book and two in one week is really bad. I'll see what I can do to get through it but it's going to be really hard.

1 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK - YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!   December 19, 2008
This is by far the worst book I've ever ready by any author on any subject. I kept reading it, slightly curious about the strange occurrences that kept happening to the main character, hoping the ending would be a good payoff for having to slog through hours of boring and cliche' material, only to be left completely unsatisfied with a ridiculous ending that was little better than "and then she woke up. It had all been a dream."

This book was so bad I threw it in the trash when I was done (even though I had the hardcover). I refuse to sell it or re-gift it - one less copy in circulation is my gift to the world.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

4 out of 5 stars Not standard Patterson, but quite good nonetheless   December 16, 2008
I suppose I should rethink my understanding of the English language, since I actually quite liked this book and so many others didn't. It's 300+ pages of a nightmarish but ultimately redemptive experience, as told through the eyes of the somewhat untrustworthy narrator Kristen. It's not standard Patterson fare, but it kept me thoroughly entertained, and that's really the standard I have for any of these pulp fiction-type novels. Crime and Punishment it is not, but the imagery was genuinely disconcerting and there was a real sense of anxiety evoked in large part by the inability of the reader to fully trust the narrator's viewpoint. I'd recommend the book to someone who likes open-ended psychological thrillers and is ok with questions left unresolved.
