Product Description In My Horizontal Life, actress and stand-up comedian Chelsea Handler boldly recounted her one-night stands-the good, the bad, and the disastrous. In this wickedly honest new work, she casts the net wider with even funnier results, recalling the most noteworthy highs and lows of her life to date--including her efforts to diversify by dating red-haired men, her obsession with midgets, and the dog-sitting interlude in which her boyfriend became overly familiar with a Peekapoo.Whether it's a vacation with her dad during which he tells airline staff they're a honeymoon couple in order to get an upgrade, or her elaborate attempts to convince her third-grade classmates that she's starring in a Private Benjamin sequel, Chelsea lets it rip in these relentlessly entertaining essays. Displaying the candor and irresistible turn of phrase that have earned her a recurring stint as a correspondent on The Tonight Show as well as her own E! series, Chelsea Lately, this deliciously skewed collection is a guilty pleasure.

Laughed until breathless...sometimes January 7, 2009 I was 100% unfamiliar with her; had never seen her standup, never read a book of hers. Obviously the stories in here are exaggerated for effect, and while always entertained I was sometimes like, "Come on, this is SO exaggerated I can't even deal," but let me tell you, even if they were exaggerated, the "scenes" with her father (general stuff overall, trip to Costa Rica) were SO FUNNY that I was hardly able to breathe and needed a Kleenex, and my friends (who bought me the book!) thought I was losing it. I can honestly, honestly say that no BOOK has ever, ever, ever made me laugh like that in my 37 years. And being Jewish myself definitely helped.
Ugh January 4, 2009 This was a selection by my book club. I would have been better off drinking a fifth of vodka. The headache wouldn't have been as bad!
Even funnier than the first January 4, 2009 If at all possible, this book is more hilarious than her first! I laughed so hard through this book, i found myself in tears. I would get up before work and read and find myself stifling my laughter as to not wake everyone else in the house up. I can't wait for her to put out another and until then i will tivo Chelsea Lately. She is a fantastic comedian.
Have tissue and/or TP nearby when you read this... December 31, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't write a decent review when my sides hurt from laughing...the only thing I can say is that while I enjoyed this book a great deal...my husband was not so thrilled by my hysterical laughter at 1 o'clock in the morning.
