Product Description ?The Mall? was originally written for a theme anthology that straddled the horror and science fiction genres. I'm not really a science fiction writer, though, and apart from a few vague references to a dystopian society, this story reads as straight horror - which is probably one of the reasons why it was rejected. I've always liked ?The Mall,? however, and its depiction of a shattered nuclear family still speaks to me.

Great short story November 30, 2007 This is great for a quick read. I've always enjoyed Bently Little-I get really great visuals from his stories. Read it on my Kindle!
Creepy November 20, 2007 I've always felt Malls were creepy, but this story gives them even more of a 'hellish' flavor. A little boy who misses his father fights the temptation to sell his soul to be with him when Daddy's ghost shows up in a shopping mall from hell.

The short horror story available on Amazon-shorts. August 23, 2007 I've been a huge fan of Bentley Little for years. I discovered The Walking at my local bookstore, read it, and moved on to The Policy, another great read. I own eight of his books, The Revelation, The Return, The Ignored, The Store, Dominion, The Vanishing, The Association, and The House. The Mall is exceptional. People are pulled to malls during life. Why not after death?
A solid short story December 17, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Little's short story, The Mall, is solidly written but, unfortunately, didn't leave any lasting impression on me. The horror factor is minor, as is the creepy factor. Does this short story stir my appetite for more of Little's work? Sure. It's well-written and I like his style. For the price, it was worth the read.

I love most of Little's stories and this one is no exception. Since I had read The Collection, I have complete faith in his ability to write a great short and this was no exception.
