Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
"Wallpaper City Guides" not only suggest where to stay, eat, and drink, but what the tourist passionate about design might want to see, whether he/she has a week or 24 hours in the city. Featured are up and coming areas, landmark buildings in an 'Architour', design centres, and the best shops to buy items unique to that city. "Wallpaper City Guides" present travellers with a fast-track ticket to the chosen location. The edited guides offer the best, most exciting, and the most beautiful of that particular city. As well as looking beautiful, the guides are expertly designed with function as a priority, and have tabbed sections so that the tourist can easily find what they are looking for. There are maps, rate and currency cards, colour-coded parts of the city, and an easy navigational tool. They are the ultimate combination of form and function.

1 out of 5 stars What, no coupons?   February 3, 2008

This is elegantly designed and pretty much content-free, as previous reviewers have said. It seems like a bunch of ads for trendy chain hotels, except real ads would offer discount coupons.

1 out of 5 stars If you want Mexico City to be London or NYC ...   March 8, 2007

If you want the same EXACT experience in Mexico City as you would in either London or NYC then this is the book for you. With this book you will have no need to know that Mexico City has a different culture, or really a different language for that matter. It doesn't come with a map, because obviously you will be asking your 5-star hotel/ trendy restaurant/ trendy foreigners-only bar/ trendy spa to request for you an English-speaking driver to drive you to your next glossy shiny English-speaking destination. For goodness sake, for shopping they recommend US$200 skirts or colorful resin rings that could be found in trendy NYC boutiques.
Yes, I made the mistake of buying this book, and I found Mexico City to bemuch richer and vibrant in culture and people than Wallpaper portrays it.
Please stick w/ Lonely Planet or Moon Handbooks.

2 out of 5 stars Superficial   January 25, 2007

This is really an extended (barely) magazine article in a clever format. It just skims the surface of Mexico City and many pages are wasted for the readers own notes, as if you would actually take this book with you. You won't. Nice photos.

2 out of 5 stars niche product, be careful   October 6, 2006

If you're looking for a meaty, informative book about Mexico City, this isn't the book for you. I can see it as a good accompaniment to one of the more conventional Mexico travel guides, though. On the upside, the photography is beautiful, and really piqued my interest in visiting the places depicted. In addition, the focus is on upscale vacationing, which is great for those of us who are no longer backpack and bus-ticket travelers. Finally, it is very light and compact, and easy to carry around. On the downside, there are no maps! With less than 100 landmarks recommended in the entire book, it would be indispensable to know where each of them was in relation to one another. Along similar lines, the "side trips," section is totally useless. The places they suggest aren't "day trip" kind of places, but rather hundreds of miles away! And there's no indication of the best way to get there or suggested itineraries.

Bottom line, if you're part of the see-and-be-seen crowd and are looking for "the best of the best" in Mexico City, this guide gives it to you. It just doesn't give much of anything else. It really must be paired with another guide that has all of the essentials of getting around.
