Amazon.com Product Description The stylish Polar F6 heart rate monitor is a great choice for using in large groups, where other excercisers might be using wireless training gear that could interfere with your own signal. The F6's coded transmission prevents crosstalk with other monitors so you'll get a personalized workout--even in a class environment. It's packed with innovative training features to help you toward your exercise goals, including: - Zone Pointer: A visible and audible feature on the display of your heart rate monitor showing your target heart rate zone and where your current heart rate is within that zone.
- Polar OwnCal: This feature shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure with the OwnCal feature. Because the OwnCal tracks both the energy expenditure during one exercise session and the accumulated kilocalories during a longer time (e.g. one week), it helps in achieving both short-term and long-term goals.
- Polar OwnZone: This feature guides you through an appropriate warm-up routine and automatically determines a safe and effective exercise heart rate zone--your OwnZone--while taking into account your current physical condition.
- Polar OwnCode: This technology blocks unwanted signals from other heart rate monitors, ensuring disturbance-free transmission of your heart rate data.
The Fitness Bullets feature shows a bullet on the monitor's display for every 10 minutes spent exercising/training in your target heart rate zone. The Time in Target Zone feature calculates the amount of total exercise time spent in your personal target zone. You can use this feature together with the Total Exercise Time to determine the effectiveness of your exercise program. You can also better assess your training data using the included Polar Precision Performance (PPP) 4.0 software and the SonicLink feature, which wirelessly uploads exercise settings to the software or to Polar's web service. very good May 11, 2008 I have been using this heart rate monitor for two weeks and I'm extremely happy with it. It was very easy to do the initial set up by reading the manual beforehand. I had another polar HRM before this one (one of their more basic models) but I wanted to get one that was coded and tracked calories. I do a lot of group classes so the interference with other HRM's was very annoying. However, if interference isn't an issue for you but you want to track calories I recommend you get the F4 which is basically the same thing but without the coding and a lower price. I've used most of the features on this HRM already and I love them. I haven't had any difficulty understanding how to use any of the features. It is also a very nice-looking HRM (I got the black one). the numbers might be a little small for people with eyesight problems. The fact that it has a backlight is great. One of the things I like the most is that on Sunday night the HRM collects all the data and makes a summary for you. So that night you see a little envelope on your screen and when you click on it it shows you the week's summary. I thought that was excellent. I haven't used the uplink feature or tried the webpage so I can't comment on that. I recommend this HRM to anyone who exercises regularly and is interested in knowing how many calories are burned weekly and daily. It has really improved my performance.
Very pleased May 4, 2008 Takes a little getting used to, but it works great. Helping to keep my overachiever husband with a heart problem safer while working out.
useful for our health April 26, 2008 It's very useful, especially for people that had had a heart attack. The only thing I didn't like was the size of the nombers For me it's difficult to read without my glasses
Watching the calories burn April 26, 2008 I love my cute HRM. It has really changed the way I work out. At the beginning it was discouraging to see that I am actually burning less than the gym machines say, but now I know the truth.
Like Mikey, I like it, I like it! April 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Heart monitors have been part of my workouts for some time. This Polar F6 has served me well in the few short weeks I have had it.
I'm not the sharpest tack in the box with computers, and instructions; however, I have been able over a period of time to get the features actualized that I want and need.
From my usage I recommend it highly.
