Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory. Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame. Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?

 Great BPA free water bottle October 10, 2008
For some reason it took a long time for amazon to ship my Klean Kanteen but I love it. There is no metallic taste and the cap creates a good seal so there are no leaks.

Save your money on the Klean Kanteens with color. Buy the stainless steel ones. The product itself is quite fine, but the colored ones arrive scratched and marred, so I think it will just be a matter of time before they do that anyway. Amazon did replace the marred ones, but I wish I had purchased the stainless steel ones.

Good bottle but good luck getting the lid you really want. Comes standard with screw-on lid so the sport (or other) lid has to be ordered separately. I ordered the sport lid which then caused price to go very high as the shipping for the lid I wanted was more than the lid by twice as much!! You can get the stainless bottle with the sport lid but not with the colored bottles?? I guess I'll just throw away the lid I do not want which is great for our environment, right Klean Kanteen folks? Having UPS/USPS stop by my house twice is good for the envoronment as well, right?

I purchased the 12 oz and 18 oz bottles in pink. Love the color and the 12 oz is the perfect size for my 4 yr. old. She loves her container. It does sweat a lot but there are sleeves you can purchase to fix that. I did buy Built NY sleeves and it keeps the bottles cooler and no more sweat. Since the mouth is big, you can fit ice cubes easily in the bottles. We've dropped our bottles a few times and it will dent and the color might scratch off a bit (like ours did) but they don't bother me. If you want to keep it looking brand new...don't drop it! The 12 oz fits perfectly into lunchboxes and my daughter is able to open it herself if I don't close it too tightly. Even though I loosen it just a little for her, the bottle still doesn't leak. I'm very happy with my Klean Kanteen purchase. It's reusable, BPA free, and cute!
