Amazon.com Product Description The Pearl Izumi Tri Cycling Short is designed to perform equally well in the swim, run, and bike components of a triathlon. Made with a superior blend of nylon/Lycra moisture wicking, and quick-drying Sensor fabric, the Tri Short offers a superior fit and durability to meet the challenges of a triathlon. With a 6.5-inch inseam, 3 inches shorter than the typical cycle short, and a unique panel design for ergonomic performance, the Tri Short is lightweight and bulk free to take you from the bike, to the road, to the water. With a triathlon-specific, reduced size Ultrasensor chamois pad, the short offers optimum support and padded protection, with minimum bulk. With quick-dry fabric on the chamois as well as the short, you will be comfortable for all elements of your workout or race. The Tri Short has an adjustable, internal drawstring closure at the waist for a perfect fit and spandex leg grippers to hold the shorts in place. Like all Pearl Izumi products the Tri Cycling Short has a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, that excludes failures from accidents, misuse, improper care, or normal wear. The Tri Short is not recommended for use in chlorinated pools. For best results Pearl Izumi recommends washing its products with detergents free of additives, such as fabric softeners and perfumes, because detergents with additives leave "surfactants" behind on a fabric's fibers that inhibit the technical performance. Hang dry the product or dry it on a low or warm dryer setting. Never use a hot dryer setting or use a commercial dryer as this will damage the fabric's performance. Poor Item Description September 15, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased what I thought were bicycling shorts, but received shorts for triatheletes, which do not have the chamois padding that cycling shorts have. There was nothing in the description of the shorts that said they were only for triatheletes. They did have the acronym Tri in the items name, but I had no idea that this was meant for triatheletes. They need to have a description of the item for novice cyclers like me. Now I have an expensive pair of shorts I will never use. Maybe I should enter a triathelon for men over 60 years old!!!
Just ran a Half Iron in them July 7, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I just ran a Half Iron man in these shorts. Although they are fairly new with only two washings, they withstood a 1.2 mile swim, 58 mile bike and 13.1 mile run in rain, and I had absolutely no chafing or rubbing. The bike pad was just big enough to protect, but not so big to be noticable in the run. It wicked a way sweat and rain perfectly.
