The large LCD screen (1.25 by 2.25 inches) has a 64 x 128 pixel resolution and features excellent visibility in direct sunlight with adjustable screen contrasts and backlight screen setting for dark playing conditions. Wherever you are on the course, GolfLogix displays the key distances to hazards and the green in big bold numbers all on a sleek black palm-sized device. What are the advantages of GolfLogix GPS versus other yardage devices? A handheld GPS device, such as GolfLogix GPS, offers more flexibility during a typical round of golf. You can bring the GPS to the ball and get more accurate distance data. Unlike other laser devices, there is no need to point and aim or have a direct line of sight to the hazard or hole. How do I get golf course maps on my GolfLogix GPS? Included with your initial purchase is access to download a single golf course map of your choice. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the Quick Start Guide located in the box to download the Course Manager Software from the GolfLogix Web site. Then follow the registration and activation screens on your computer to obtain your free golf course map. With a $29.95 annual membership, you can download an unlimited amount of golf courses worldwide (currently more than 15,000 in the database) and have access to GolfLogix product enhancements and upgrades. Is using a GPS distance device allowed under USGA regulations? The USGA and R&A both recently sanctioned the use of satellite-based yardage measuring devices during competition. Specifically, decision 14-3/0.5 allows a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule. Golfers should check with their golf professional prior to use in a USGA sanctioned event. GPS devices have always been permitted in handicap scoring in recreational rounds. What's in the Box? GolfLogix GPS, USB cable, belt/bag clip, 2 AA alkaline batteries, printed instructions

Excellent GPS - Very happy with this Unit August 19, 2008 When I retired some time ago I purchased a new set of clubs, bag, cart, Bushnell 1500 and the Sky Caddie. Recently purchase the latest Golflogic 2008 model and was up and running in 15 minutes with 20 courses of my choice.
Advantages over the Sky Caddie:
Batteries. I carry four extra in my bag for the Golflogix and in the past I have forgotten to charge up the Sky Caddie and it went dead half way through my round.
The Sky Caddie is slow and you have to scroll through to select your course. The Golflogix selects the course and hole you are on when you turn it on. A very nice feature.
Feel better about this unit being water proof. With the Sky caddie I purchased a waterproof bag container for the rainy days. (Which we get in Vancouver).
One yearly fee and you download 20 courses anywhere. With the Sky caddie I had to pay additional fee's to download one course I go to in Wa.
Big Bright view. I am sure this is because of the new technology. I would think the latest Sky Caddie would be bright as well.
Con to the Golflogix over the Sky Caddie
You cannot map your own course with the Golflogix as you can with the Sky Caddie. If your course is not on the list to download you could map it yourself. As I purchased the Sky Caddie at the beginning I had to map a few of the courses myself. You cannot map your own course with the Golflogix.
I attach both to my Sun Mountain cart. My buddies like to know their distance to the pin and I always have the unit on distance of my shot when I advance after hitting my ball. This way I have the best of both worlds.
I use the Bushnell 1500 with the slope as well. Sometimes you just want to know the distance to trees,,,landing area, the flag,,,downhill or uphill shots (This makes a difference as it compensates for the addition or subtraction of the distance).
With all these toys you would think it would improve my golf game, ha ha...well my skill level needs improvement however I love to know how far I hit my shots,,,how far I need to hit them,,,,it makes my day a lot more relaxed and sometimes I hit the shot of the day.....
If you are reading this review I would like to put a plug in for Sun Mountain. I purchased the C130 bag, the V2 cart, and the cooler bag. The umbrella fits into the top of the cart and you can easily get under it without bending over. I am 6'1" and am very happy with the set up.
Upon retirement as mentioned I purchased a complete set of clubs. In hindsight I would go to a professional shop and have the clubs made for my body, swing, speed etc.
The Golflogix GPS 2008 Model is a winner!
Hope this review helps

nonexistent custome service August 18, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased the Golflogix in July, because I have been happy with Garmin GPS. Mistake. After problems with downloading software, I tried to contact Golflogix via e-mail and telephone. No response from Golflogix. I returned the unit under their "satisfaction guarantee" policy, and still have not heard from them. Postal receipt indicates unit was delivered to them on 08/01, and as of 08/18 I still have not heard from them. Have made two phone calls and sent two e-mails, and no response. Right now their marketing and promotions appear to be a sham. In the meantime have purchased a Sky Caddie, and am delighted with performance and customer service.
No brag ...just fact August 16, 2008 Saves you time ...not looking for yardage markers. And it's accurate...on the money. Easy setup and download of favorite courses...actually surprised at the number of obscure courses in their database. Can't find your favorite course?...not likely. But tell them and they'll plot it for you.
Golf GPS device August 15, 2008 The product performs as advertised, and I'm glad I bought it. The price was good and the delivery timely. A thoroughly painless purchase.
Golf Logix Rcoks !! August 14, 2008 What an amazing device ! Simple to download courses, took just a minute or so to do 10 of my locals. And the first time I used it, it worked exactly as advertised. Powered up and acquired satellites in just a couple of minutes; I clipped it to my golf bag, and was on my way. Advances from shot to shot and hole to hole automatically; yardages at my home course were just laser-measured to the foot, and this little gadget was right on the money with yardages that my club paid beaucoup dollars to have done. Wish I had known about this item before we invested big bucks in an outside survey of our course.
Our pro is considering buying them for every cart on the course, speeds up play tremendously, and even though I spray the ball a lot, it was never a problem getting an accurate yardage, even from a different fairway !
Highly recommend this device, you CANNOT go wrong with it !
