I could not get the product to stay on. It would turn off before you finished sighting in. The on/off mechanism is really unreliable. When you could get it to work the beam was not really strong enough for any significant distance in daylight. My summary: It's just a waste of time and money. A box of bullets works much better and will work every time.

I put the batteries in for initial test and they died after maybe 10 seconds of use. I called the SSI support line and they told me that the batteries should last 36 hours. The guy told me that the included batteries must have been dead, and that he would send me out new ones. Now, three weeks later I have not received any batteries and I am a bit irked. I called the support line back to complain, but this time I got an automated recording saying that, "This voice mailbox has not been set up."
Now for $10 I could go buy the three hearing aid batteries to try out, but why should I? Would they die as quickly? Let this and other comments about battery life issues warn you away.

Do as the directions state site in at 25ft and that is about as good as you will hit at that distance says you should be on the paper at 100yds. Not even close. Not worth the money.

This laser bore sighter for a springfield 30:06 is very useful if your gun has been banged around or you are putting on a new scope. When put in the chamber it allows you to adjust the scope before you go to the range so you are at least hitting the target. It will not be 100% accurate if you use this to sight in alone, however, it will get you in the ballpark and in some cases bang on. The batteries that came with it did not last very long at all. I'm sure they are not very expensive but we sighted in 2 rifles and the next day the laser was barely visible. That's the only negative.

The SSI Sight-Rite Bullet Laser Bore Sighter for a 12 Gauge is Outstanding. What a time saver compared to using a regular bore sight kit and the still having to go into the field to shoot rounds to zero in. This is an item you can put in you pocket and if you're ever in doubt of your scope being off just throw it in the chamber light up you target and adjust the scope. It's as easy as that.
