Solid product June 28, 2008 I read all of the other reviews before I bought this. I have to admit that I was skeptical until I got it in the mail. It's true that you can't see the display when it's dark outside, but I solved this incredibly easily by painting the back of the display with a white acrylic paint in less than 10 seconds. It sticks on the window fine as long as you clean the window first and also wet the suction cup before you attach it. The accuracy of my particular unit is dead-on. I have 2 digital thermostats in the house...When I placed this unit on top of them it displayed the same temperature as the digital thermostats, but with an added bonus to the tenths of a degree displayed. So either all 3 of the thermometers are off by exactly the same amount or all of them are accurate. I assume they are all accurate. I can't speak for battery life because I've only been using this thermometer for about a week, but so far it appears to be well worth the price. If you have to replace the battery it is very simple to do.
Not bad for the price April 27, 2008 This little thermometer is not bad for the price. I haven't had any problems with it sticking to the window but the numbers aren't as dark as shown in the picture, more a light grey color. I chose this item because I had hoped it would be easier to read than my previous thermometer which had very small numbers. It is readable, I blocked out the back side as another reviewer suggested and for the price it's OK.
Two AcuRite digital thermometers failed within a year February 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I liked these digital thermometers when I first bought them. In less than a year - about the same time - both could not be read. The display became very faint. Figuring it was the batteries I bought some and installed them. It made no difference.
I would suggest you look further if you want a *reliable* window-mounted outdoor digital thermometer.
Not accurate January 27, 2008 The readings are influenced too much by the temperature of the window and the air on the other side of the window. We have a larger thermometer on the back porch that my wife thinks is ugly, so I thought this would be the answer by pressing to the kitchen window. It has stayed up just fine, but it differs from the other thermometer by 10 degrees.

Those reviewers who suggest that the thermometer is near-impossible to read at night are correct. However I was able to mitigate this considerably by taping a single piece of properly-shaped paper to the back of the display.
This causes light from inside of the house to reflect off the paper, essentially backlighting the display. Meanwhile, the paper is translucent enough to let light through during the daylight hours. It's not perfect, but it's much better than out-of-the-box.
