Hummingbirds will stop to fuel up on sugar-water at this luminous purple glass feeder and offer avid watchers a glimpse of this tiny bird in action. The gorgeous, clear crystal used to make the feeder comes from Bohemia in the Czech Republic, an area renowned for its glassmaking since the late 1700s. Skilled artisans blow the flawless optic glass into a big purple strawberry with a light-catching bubbled texture. Two trumpet-shaped glass flowers insert into the feeder and provide drip-free eating and a more natural feeding experience for hummers--they can stick their narrow beaks in and lick up the homemade nectar as they would with a real flower. Rubber grommets cover the two feeding ports to prevent the crystal flowers from slipping out or cracking against the feeder. The feeder comes with a thick S-shaped copper hanger, which, because of the weight of the feeder, should be hung from a sturdy hook near flowering plants. The 1-inch-wide ports are the only openings, making this feeder difficult to clean efficiently by hand. However, the glass composition makes the feeder easy to sterilize. --Cristina Vaamonde
