Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Which breeds can we find in your dog? This is the most complete and comprehensive mixed breed analysis test currently on the market and it detects more than 130 American Kennel Club-recognized breeds.

The Wisdom Panel MX Mixed Breed Analysis™ is the most complete and comprehensive mixed breed analysis test currently on the market. Your dog's DNA is extracted from the small blood sample sent to our laboratory, and typed at over 300 genetic markers. The DNA pattern found is compared to all the breeds in our database by a powerful computer algorithm that produces an informative report on the breeds detected in your dog. This report also explains how the breeds detected may influence your dog's physical and/or behavioural traits.

The Wisdom Panel™ MX Mixed Breed Analysis kit contains everything your veterinarian needs to ship a sample of your dog's blood to Mars Veterinary for analysis. The kit contains a pre-paid shipping box, a 10-page booklet describing the test, a shipping form, a uniquely bar-coded 2ml blood tube for blood sample collection by your veterinarian, a secondary protective shipping tube and absorbent gauze (to meet US postal regulations for shipping blood products) and a seal for the shipping box.

*The Wisdom Panel™ MX Mixed Breed Analysis is used to help determine the breed makeup of a dog. Validation testing has resulted in an average accuracy** of 84% in first-generation crossbred dogs of known parentage. The breeds in this validation study represent 45% of AKC registrations. The Wisdom Panel™ MX Mixed Breed Analysis is not intended to predict disease or behavior in any particular dog.

**Accuracy was determined by average positive predictive value across breeds studied.

Ran this test on our two "pound" dogs. Our small, 15 pound dog that looks like a pomeranian came back as a Borzoi, German Shepherd, Pekingese mix. And our 60 lb dog that looks like a retriever with maybe some setter, came back as mostly Kerry Blue Terrier, with some beagle, cocker, french bulldog and rottweiler. Neither are even close! But I guess since they say they are only 84% accurate on first generation crossbred dogs with known parentage, this is to be expected. Run the test if you want a laugh, but don't expect accuate results.
