Omega Deluxe cat window seat. What a dsiapointment!!!!!! May 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I read the reviews in hopes this product would be what I needed. Let me begin by saying the seller was excellent. That was the only thing that was. The appearance is fine. The implementation was one of the worst I have ever used. What anyone except someone who maybe bought this one only would think this piece of junk was any good is beyond me. The part that makes this pretty much trash is the way it attaches to your windowsill. The ones I purchased previously were displayed as this was with the top showing but when you get it out of the package there are brackets that attach to the seat. These make the seat strong because they take the strain of of the seat. Strong enough to put a lot of weight on it without movement. I mean a lot. I put forty pounds on the others I bought and it never even moved the littlest bit.
Well this supposed Omega deluxe bed has only a seat. No brackets. No Velcro to put on the sill and seat to make sure it does not move as any other do. What does this seat come with. Nothing. Not even a way to hold it down. What they propose is to drill holes in your windowsill. There are two tiny holes that are in the corners. I don't know about you but I would never drill into a sill unl3ess there was a darn good reason and this seat isn't it.
What the heck were they thinking? Even if you used screws it would still be junk because with the slightest pressure the seats bends down. So what do they suggest? You find a piece of wood the same width as the supposed groove under the seat and attach it, well anyway you can think of because they do not give you anything to hold it in place. The littlest bit of pressure and the seat stays but the wood falls out. OK I could use glue, double sided tape, spit and it would hold. SO what. By the way, if you have a 2x4 the width it will work.
Folks. If you think I am being hard on this product you are right. I have never seen a piece of equipment made so poorly in it's implementation and please believe me I have tried many products but this one wins the prize. I am nearly sixty years old. It is the product that wins ten stars for being the worst of it's type. DO NOT BUY THIS! There are plenty of other window seats for cats and even the cheapest, (which by the way this is not by nearly twelve dollars) have brackets and Velcro. The Velcro will come off and at worst you would have to touch up the paint but I have done it several times with my other window seats and as long as you are careful nothing will happen. With this you have two holes, A 2x4 and two screw holes which still do not support the seat.
This is the first real ditz I have given to a product that I urge you to listen to. Look for another seat and I'm sure if you buy the type with brackets you will not be disappointed.
Hemi loves this seat September 21, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We were looking for a seat that would stand up to a lot of jumps and hanging on. Our kitty, Hemi, likes to be around us but not right next to us. We installed this next to our recliner and she loves it. It is large enough for her to sleep on and sit comfortably. She likes the shaggy carpet on top because our house is 80% wood floor.
It does include 2 screws for it to be mounted. Our sill sits out about an inch. When we installed it, it was saggy. We bridged that gap by stuffing pieces of cardboard from the box it came in behind it. You can't see it at all.
Also, when she jumps on the top, air comes out of a little hole. It sounds like "ffffffffff." So when we hear that noise, we know she just jumped up on the seat. She is about 11 pounds and it has held up well for the past 6 months.
Three Paws Up April 13, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was a little bummed that I had to drill holes in my window sill to mount this, but my cats are thrilled. I have three, and they are big boys. The 18 pounder and the 14 pounder can sit on it at the same time, and there is no problem. Of course, it's not the sexiest window seat on the market, but if my cats are happy, so am I.
no go March 21, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I returned this product. It was plastic and cheap looking; make large holes in my windowsill; was unstable; and my cats would not use it.
