Those Pill Pockets did a wonder October 1, 2008 I have Shiba Inu, this dog is extremely picky. I like to give my dogs (I have two) natural stuff as much as I can. I was giving my dogs garlic/brewers yeast pills against fleas. My Shiba refuses to eat any pills and because my two dogs keep eating each other food I could not add it there. Those Pill Pockets did a wonder; they made my life so much easier. I buy bigger one which is for capsules and I put three pills in one, and my Shiba absolutely loves it. I would recommend to by capsules size, even if you have to give your dog one small pill, you always can cut one pocket a half and it will save you a lot of money - you will use one pocket for two pills.
so easy to use September 16, 2008 My dog loves these. The only problem that I found (my dog is nearly 12 and seems to be developing a sensitive tummy in his old age) is that they may not agree with my dogs tummy. They are fabulous and if you have a dog with a sensitive tummy, but don't need to use them more than once a day and can use the smaller size you'd probably be ok. The pills that my dog is taking are large joint pills which require the larger size pill pocket and he takes them twice a day. I stress that this is a maybe. Just something to consider before you buy if you have a dog with a sensitive stomach.
Wonderful product, but do the math to ensure a good deal September 9, 2008 First, Pill Pockets are a GREAT product that really works... before Pill Pockets, I only had a 50% success rate getting our three dogs to take their pills when we used hotdogs and even steak leftovers. With Pill Pockets, the pill always goes "down"! [Note: DON'T waste your money buying Pill Pockets for cats if you have dogs. I read a review (listed under another seller) that stated that it was more economical to buy the PillPockets for cats because you receive 45 instead of 35. Well, the reviewer failed to notice that the Pill Pockets for Cats only weighs 1.8 ounces, and the Pill Pockets (Small bag) for Dogs weighs 3.5 ounces!]
Buy the bag that, per ounce, is the least money. The Pill Pockets are like Beef Playdoh, and are easy to tear in half (we tear each one in half and wrap 1/2 around the dog's medication). Do a little research, and you'll save money. BTW, the multi-bag deals online at Amazon are not necessarily a good deal, be sure to divide the total cost by the number of bags you receive to see if you're saving $$.
NOTE: The size listed on the Pill Pocket's bag indicates the size of the pill pocket, not the dog. Large meds require larger Pill Pockets; small meds like phenobarbital require only the small or a piece of a large pill pocket. These things are great, and go down my dogs easily.
Wonderful product! April 5, 2008 Great product! These work wonderfully and my dog always eats them. Maybe it's because he's a lab and will eat anything anyways. The pill pockets are 100 times better than shoving my hand down my dog's throat to give him his medicine!
My dogs will wake from a coma when they smell these! February 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have 6 dogs... 1 takes valley fever pills & two are on thyroid pills and from time to time they require other medication. They however are NOT willing to take it. Cheese, Peanut Butter, Cream Cheese etc. I've tried it all & They are wise to my tricks!
The Pill Pockets are great. They are so pliable that I just break off a piece of one, mold it around the pill and my dogs will nearly take my fingers off to get it!.
One of my dogs is deaf and when she is sleeping she has no idea we are there.. If I wave the Pill Pocket in front of her nose she wakes up and snatches it like a shark!
They are a bit expensive, but they last awhile if you just pull off the size needed for the pill.. It's a waste to use a whole one per pill. I can get about 4-5 pills out of 1 pocket.(using the large ones)
