That's the same amount of carbon dioxide found in the volume of atmospheric air that would fill an entire football field over 1/2 mile high.If that seems like a lot of air, it is. Inefficient lighting is a major contributor to the global rise in carbon dioxide emissions that cause global warming. By using this light, you can substantially reduce the amount of CO2 produced in your home or business, helping to reduce climate change in a very real, measurable way. Amazing technology, a little green May 14, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought a couple of these lightbulbs for our kitchen. They're really amazing but they do have two flaws. But first the good stuff:
They last 50x longer than an incandescent lightbulb; that's something like 30+ years!
They only use 4W of power (even less than an equivalent CFL!)
They don't get hot (really, I've tried it).
They don't contain any mercury so don't have some of the disposal issues that CFLs have.
Here's the downside (hopefully the folks at Pharox are working on these):
They only come in 40W (equivalent), which isn't super-bright.
The light is a bit greenish (this was also mentioned in a NY Times article comparing a bunch of different bulbs, and I can verify it's the case).
I'm still quite happy with the bulbs, they're really amazing, but make sure you're ok with the two flaws mentioned above or you'll be disappointed.
