The Better Bottle with Big Bite Valve makes it easy to hydrate on the go. | What is BPA? Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate. In recent months, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottle that is not made with Bisphenol-A (BPA), and CamelBak is proud to introduce BPA-free bottles with the same great properties customers have come to expect from polycarbonate: vibrant color, clarity, durability, dishwasher-safe, and with no residual taste. As of the end of April 2008, the entire CamelBak bottle line will be available in BPA-Free materials in North America. What are phthalates? Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are a component added to some plastics to make them soft and pliable. None of CamelBak's bottles have ever contained phthalates. What is the BPA-free Better Bottle made from? The CamelBak Better Bottle line is made from a new copolyester polymer called Tritan, made by Eastman. It offers the same great qualities that we have come to expect from polycarbonate bottles and is 100 percent BPA-Free. The Big Bite Valve is made of medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance. About CamelBak CamelBak is the originator and world leader in hands-free hydration systems. The first CamelBak products proved to be very popular among mountain bikers and motocross riders, because it allowed them to drink without taking their hands off of the handlebars in technical terrain. The product began to cross over into other sports when scientific studies showed athletes drank more fluids and performed better when they wore a CamelBak. Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits. In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. CamelBak?s state-of-the-art packs and hydration systems have benefited athletes, outdoorsmen, and soldiers around the world. While CamelBak has grown tremendously since the early days, one thing hasn't changed: CamelBak still believes in the performance advantage that proper hydration delivers for just about any activity. The privately-held company is headquartered in Petaluma, California.

not what i thought it would be August 28, 2008 it really is not what i thought it would be. its pretty, but i don't think that the bit part will last for long , then how do you replace it.
#7 can still be BPA free August 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There seems to be some confusion about this being a #7 plastic and yet being BPA free. #7 plastics (with a recycle triangle #7) include a wide variety of plastics, SOME of which contain BPA. This product clearly is BPA-free, so it doesn't matter if it is classified as recyclable #7. BPA is very likely not the only potentially harmful chemical in plastics, but as far as I can tell, it is the only one much is currently known about, so it's the only one that is reasonable to avoid--though that could change over the next few years.
Excellent product! Love it! August 26, 2008 I love this product! I have tried so many different water bottles to find just the right one and this is my favorite! It is easy to use, easy to clean! I have tried other products similar to this one and they did not work. I would highly recommend this water bottle!
Best water bottle yet and a few suggestions. August 21, 2008 This is the best water bottle I have ever used. It is built more towards runners and bikers. So they don't have to flip the bottle up and not be able to see what's in front of them. That being said, it works great on a treadmill too. It helps you avoid the disorientation associated with tilting your head all the way back for a drink. You should probably replace the bite valve every 4 months or so as it gets grimy in that enclosed space. Eventually it loses it's "leak proofiness" too. Amazon sells the kit that includes a bite valve and two straws that you can cut to size to fit any of the bottles. Also, Camelbak only makes the insulated carrier sleeve for the .75L bottle. If you want the bigger bottle like I did I can recommend the Built in NY 32oz tote. It fits well and keeps your water cold for quite some time. It's available from Amazon so it's eligible for Prime. Search for "Built NY 32oz"
It might be BPA free BUT.... August 20, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
It might be BPA free but its made of #7 plastic which is known to cause cancer. I figured that out today. Additionally it does not fit in my car cup holder and after 2 weeks of typical use its very scuffed and dull looking. I just tossed it into the recycle bin and am waiting for my new aluminum Oggi bottles to arrive.
