waterpik wp100 May 3, 2008 Very quiet. Compact. Not quite as powerful as my previous one, but it does the job fine. The new nozzle is the best so far!.
Flossing still required! May 2, 2008 Don't believe the hype. Flossing is still required. It does help with getting out food under the gum line, but you still need to floss between your teeth. When you use the Waterpik for the first time your gums will bleed, but after a few days you get accustomed to the pressure. The only other thing I dislike is the horrible noise of the pump. I would have gladly paid twice the cost for something that doesn't sound like a beat up dodge. All in all, this is a nice additional tool in your arsenal of oral hygiene.
Good choice April 29, 2008 I have been using this item for a few weeks now and it seems to work well. I have braces and I am able to clean my teeth much better than with brushing alone. The water tank is sufficient and it has plenty of pressure (I use it on 5). While the water pik is not huge, it is a little big for me to leave on the counter so I stash it under the sink. Not a big deal. It is easy enough to pull out and use.
Adequate After- Brushing and Flossing Oral Care April 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The dental hygienist and dentist recommended I get a Water Pik Ultra Dental Water Jet for daily use to reduce the size of the measureable pockets in my gums, especially those that pose a risk which are next to a couple of costly crowns. I was skeptical. To my surprize, this thing works, as I've seen it remove food particles I would have had no idea were still trapped between my teeth, and low in the gumline. I can't vouch for the pressure of the jets of water this model produces as I have nothing to compare it with ... this is my first such machine. Soon, I will get a report after six months of use. I hope it works as suggested.
The specific details which may help others decide:
Such a simple machine was more expensive than I thought it should be, and the plastics used seem rather flimsy and easy to break, and they certainly do wear quickly with vigorous use. But, when it comes to that preventative maintainance cost versus dental fees for meds and special treatments, you put your money where your mouth is.
You gotta practice using this thing, holding your head over the sink bowl, because if you want to see where you are pointing the tips inside your mouth, it is easy to squirt water all over the bathroom mirror, walls, etc. I took it into the shower with a ground-faulted extension cord a few times, but that's a hassle I now skip.
The only important attachment to me is the one tip provided to produce the strongest jet from this simple water pump, and this tip has gotten plenty of use ... and is now split after approximately 100 to 120 uses. So, I am looking for replacement tips. The other tips to me are useless, and the container tray which affixes to the top of the tank is in the way when I want to fill up the tank for use.
I bought the 100 WC here at Amazon for a discount over a local retailer and big box store. It was the best price and a good deal as it included prompt shipping costs.
I give it three stars.
Just fair... April 28, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I thought my original water pik was more powerful. This one, although more compact, does not clean as well. I was disappointed.
