| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description ColonCARE is the only FDA cleared fecal occult blood test (FOBT) for home-use that utilizes a new and enhanced immunochemical testing method with antibodies to detect traces of human blood (not detectable with the naked eye) in a stool sample. ColonCARE eliminates the problems inherent with traditional FOB testing (oxidation/guaiac methods), which deal with numerous interferences - for example dietary restrictions have to be observed and multiple stool samples have to be collected. By testing only for specific parts of human blood, ColonCARE delivers a more accurate result than other FOBTs and has been proven in a clinical study with colonoscopies as comparisons. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS) individuals over the age of 50 should perform a fecal occult blood test yearly earlier if the individual is at high risk. Recently, the ACS updated its guidelines for colorectal cancer screening stating that in comparison with guaiac-based tests for the detection of occult blood, immunochemical tests are more patient-friendly and are likely to be equal or better in sensitivity and specificity. Colorectal cancer is often called the one preventable cancer. If detected early, the cure rate is over 90%.
