The Elite 9500 is built for your individual oral care needs. |
31,000 bristle sweeps per minute removes harmful plaque. | Sonicare is the only Sonic toothbrush with a slim angled neck, contoured-fit bristles and ultra high speed bristle speed for greater plaque removal in hard to reach areas. Plus, Sonicare is the #1 personally used and recommended brand by U. S. dental professionals. Building better health into every Sonicare. The mouth is the gateway to your body. It is increasingly being identified as a vulnerable entry point for bacteria associated with serious medical conditions. Evidence also continues to emerge that shows a link between gum disease and a variety of systemic conditions, including diabetes, heart attack and stroke, and the occurrence of pre-term low birth weight babies. So it?s essential that when you think of total body health you include your mouth by focusing on gum disease prevention. Philips Oral Healthcare is dedicated to developing innovations that result in superior oral health and, therefore, can help improve and maintain overall health. About Sonicare?s Patented Technology and Custom Care System Sonicare?s unique patented combination of high speed bristle motion with extra wide sweeping motion creates effective, yet gentle dynamic fluid cleaning action. So you get superior plaque removal, especially in hard-to-reach areas, deep between teeth and below the gumline. In fact, this technology generates 31,000 bristle sweeps per minute, and laboratory studies show that it removes harmful plaque bacteria up to four millimeters beyond the bristle tips -- even below the gum-line. With the Sonicare 9500 in hand, you can count on naturally whiter teeth and healthier gums. Sonicare -- Use it for your mouth, use it for your body Diabetes: Studies have shown that people with diabetes are more susceptible to oral infections and gum disease than those without diabetes. The Sonicare toothbrush is proven to reduce gingivitis, contributing to better oral health and, therefore, better overall health. Cardiovascular: People with severe gum disease may have up to double the risk of stroke or heart attack. And Sonicare is clinically proven to reduce plaque, the root cause of gum disease, making Sonicare an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Pre-term low birth weight: When severe gum disease is present, some women are up to seven times more likely to deliver a pre-term low birth weight baby. And Sonicare toothbrushes are clinically proven to reduce gingivitis, so they can significantly improve oral health for better overall health. Sonicare Elite 9500 Features

Discontinued for a good reason October 11, 2008 This product has been discontinued most likely because the on/off button keeps falling off. I have had to replace three under warranty. The first two times, they were accusatory and said their research showed toothpaste was breaking down the rubber. Huh?
The last time, they sent the R710 to replace it, which is not comparable to the 9500. The R710 has only one brush head, no cord storage in the base, and no sensitive setting. The R732 has the extras including two brush heads, but Sonicare refused to send it.
So I have to go out and buy three brush heads (they don't sell singles)and live with a lesser product because Sonicare makes bad products and doesn't honor their warranty. I'll never buy a Sonicare again.
Planned Obsolescence September 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Here are two things Phillips will not tell you about their Sonicare toothbrushes and heads.
1) The collar that holds the toothbrush to the handle will disintegrate in a couple of months. That's what prompted this review, because they would not replace mine after it fell apart two weeks after purchasing a replacement.
They manufacturer these things to disintegrate so you will continue to buy replacements - planned obsolescence. However, I suspect their China supplier is skimping on the plastic specifications and they fall apart in weeks instead of months. (Do you think China would really do that?)
2) UNPLUG your base until you need to charge the toothbrush. If you charge it up overnight, then unplug the base, the toothbrush will work for four brushings per day for about a month. Then, when it signals or stops, plug the base in to charge it.
This method will allow your toothbrush to work for five years or longer. If you keep the base plugged in all the time, these NiCad batteries develop memory and will stop functioning after 18 to 24 months.
A bonus, if you travel a lot as I do, you don't have to pack the charger. Just make sure it's topped off and you're good for a month's vacation.
It's good. September 9, 2008 I brought this for my boyfriend who has a lot bleeding when he brush his teeth. It helps a little bit but not that much and obvious as we expected.
Philips Sonicare E9500 September 2, 2008 I have used Sonicare toothbrush for more than 2 years with total satisfaction. The E series has desirable features. A slow start to allow acceptance of the sound and vibration lasts two weeks. Thereafter, it delivers full intensity. A timer sounds beep after 30 seconds to encourage treating each of four quadrants of the mouth thoroughly. The effect is amazingly clean teeth. My hygenist reports lower plaque buildup, even after 12 months. This purchase was for the double head model as gifts for my son and daughter-in-law. They like it. And as usual, Amazon came through with timely direct shipping to them. Philips is always first choice and Amazon first source.
Cleans well but dirty, short lived August 15, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's a shame that this toothbrush does not deserve a higher rating because basically it does a a very good job of cleaning your teeth. However, after only a year's use every other day the plastic threads of the brush have turned a disgustingly yellow color, like they have been smoking, despite the fact that the product was thorougly cleaned after every use. Furthermore, thirteen months after purchase it won't work properly because the brush gets jammed after it is tightened on the handle.
