Waste of money July 15, 2008 This product is a waste of money. I purchased it a my dentist's office. After discovering that it has no power, the company sent me a replacement after my hygenist called and was on hold for 25 minutes. Warning: The warranty only applies if you buy it from a dentist. The replacement does not hold a charge either. My dentist will not issue a refund. I hate this toothbrush so much that I'm cutting my loss and tossing it in the garbage. Buy a Braun or Sonicare. Much better quality.
Not worth the money June 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got the Rotadent though my dentist who recommended this toothbrush and said it was similar to Sonicare. I didn't read reviews or compared others and just decided to buy it since I was unfamiliar with electric toothbrushes given I never had any problems with my gums and teeth. It cost $150 and the replacement heads were $15 to replace. When I first used it, I didn't notice a drastic difference between the Rotadent and my cheap disposable Oral B vibrating toothbrush. At times, my cheap Oral B version would clean my teeth better. After some time I stopped using it all together. Two years later, a friend recommended the Sonicare e7300(there are different version but this one is the most recommended), which is about $80 online and thought I would try it out after reading the positive reviews. I had my doubts, but I have to say it is superb at cleaning your teeth!!! I had my teeth cleaned and professionally whitened and wanted to maintain the whitening procedure and after a couple of months I noticed my teeth were feeling fuzzy and not as white. I started using the Sonicare e7300 and noticed brushing with the sonicare restored the smooth, clean feeling you have after a professional cleaning and in my case continued too maintain the whitening procedure. It is almost half the price and totally worth it. Lesson learned---never buy toothbrushes from the dentist office---they are more expensive and of course they say it is better since they don't sell the sonicare. I'm not sure what the return policy is in either toothbrush, but sometimes they have a 30 day period in which you can return it. The Rotadent has an additional brush that would be useful for braces, however the Sonicare brush has really thin bristles that clean in between teeth, thus when it comes to braces it may accomplish the same thing. Instead of having to buy two heads, you may be able to use one that does both clean your teeth and gums as well as clean in between small spaces where food is likely to get stuck. The sonicare's thin bristles and the agressive batteryt power are superb at cleaning in between teeth where you are likely to get coffee stains that are hard to reach.
Your cell phone is MORE waterproof December 28, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
The Rotadent toothbrush does an excellent job however the products construction is completely inferior. I purchased the toothbrush online and as Amazon clearly states, online purchases do not qualify for the lifetime warranty. So when my Rotadent died a little over a year after purchasing it, I took the toothbrush apart. Rotadent claims the toothbrush is water proof and can be rinsed and handled like an ordinary toothbrush (as I did). When I disassembled the toothbrush I discovered that the unit is actually as waterproof as the common cell phone! The top where the drive mechanism contacts the brush is not sealed, the bottom where the charger connects is not sealed, and on my brush the center where the unit is assembled was not completely glued...so this seam also leaked. Everything inside the toothbrush was corroded including the battery, the drive unit, the motor, the switch, and charger. I will purchase another Rotadent because there are no equivalent dental hygiene options available. My replacement Rotadent will not be handled anything like a regular toothbrush however, I will remove the head to rinse it and keep the unit as dry as possible.
Simply the best! October 25, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Forget about all the Sonic, water pics, and all the new Oral-B products. This outperforms everything.
You will have to relearn how to brush, though. The top teeth are brushed in a "m" pattern, and the bottom teeth in a "w". pattern. At least that is how my dentist taught me.
I do have trouble with the back side of the teeth doing the "m" and "w" pattern. So I just go along the gum line, mainly.
The way I can tell effectiveness is the amount of material left when flossing. If I floss after using this product, I rarely find any material. With any other product, I always find material when flossing.
I use this brush nightly only.
Rotadent toothbrush October 9, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have been using this brand of electric toothbrush for almost 20 years, since first instructed by my dentist. I come from a family of very poor teeth, and I am doing everything in my power to not only save mine, but keep them in good condition. So far, it's worked. Whether or not it's due to the Rotadent, I don't know, but I don't mess with success! (Of course, I also floss and use a water pik every night, and brush & rinse twice a day). This is only my 3rd Rotadent, which I think is pretty good for almost 20 years!
